Are you sure they don't have the DLC in their list? They can check by going to their Library, right-click on the game > Properties > DLC.

I smell a Pirate.

Far Harbor WAS pirated and uploaded to Nexus just before it was released and a few thousand individuals downloaded it before it was taken down.

But yes – you normally have to purchase the DLC to play. I highly recommend it; I’m currently knee-deep in Far Harbor and it’s a blast. Kinda reminds me of Stephen King’s “The Mist”.

Well, it's not a bug. That's essentially impossible, considering all the things that need to happen in order to be able to play the DLCs (you have to buy the season pass, then the add ons need to sync, and then Steam will download them, etc).

Most likely piracy. Tell your "friend" that if he enjoys the work Beth provided, he should pay for it.

Hmm... maybe a free DLC trial? Though I've never heard of such.

Maybe it IS a mistake? Maybe when he downloaded and installed the game Steam inadvertently gave him the DLCs as well?

Check your order history to see if maybe you accidently bought a "sale package" that included the DLCs?

Or just don't worry about it and let him enjoy it I suppose.

Hey guys, I'm the " friend " he was talking about. I got the game Fallout 4 from Horus and had a lot of fun with it. But over time I noticed some things. For example another friend told me that some things that i can build are dlc stuff, also today i found out that i can visit Far Harbor and am able to get Ada ( robot from mechanist dlc ). So it seems i got all the DLC without ever buying one. I'd like to point out that I'm in no way a pirate. I love Bethesta and all their games. i have the whole Fallout series with DLC, exept for FO4, since I'm out of money at the moment. I'd like steam to check out my account and look into this. ( P.S. I get that it looks like I pirated the DLC's, but I have nothing to hide.)

Well, of course I'm happy that i can play the DLC's, but it doesn't seem right to me.
About the technical details, there is no DLC mentioned in the game options ( Steam library--> right click on game ). Also there is no DLC to be seen in my " Owned games " tab on my profile. Other DLC's ( like from FO3 and NV ) are listed just fine.

Far Harbour contains material that doesn't even exist in the base game; it would be impossible to play it without getting the data for that from somewhere. Whether it's due to pirating, or for some other unusual reason, they do indeed have the DLCs (the extra DownLoadable Content) one way or another. You know they have that content, because you've (presumably) seen them using it.

I wonder, does Steam register the achievements for the relevant DLC?

Well if you're not a pirate and it is just a glitch in the system, don't get Steam to check! Don't look a gift horse in the mouth :P

I look at it the same way you do, but I'm just trying to help improove the website by reporting a bug.

What about the in-game identification of the DLC? Do they show up in that part of the main menu?

One of the problems that I'd be worried about is if the program later loses track of things, especially if it doesn't properly register the DLC as being installed in the first place.

Also could you post a screenshot of Fallout from your library? To see if it says if the DLCs are installed.

Yeah, I'd feel the same way honestly. I guess just get in touch with Steam and let them hash it out.

And as another poster stated, if it IS a mistake and the DLC isn't synced correctly it could cause problems down the road.
