Wasteland Fashion?
Hello!

So I started a video series called "Fashion *Insert Game Name Here*" from which I received alot of positive feedback. As I am quite the fan of the Fallout series, I decided to make one about Fallout aswell:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k75QwEvvFk0

However I would like to know if you guys do care about your character's appearance at all as some people solely play on 1st person, and if you do, what is your preferred wastelander apparel? or if you're just a survivor trying to survive, equipping anything that offers the best stats?

Cheers!

I use a lot of mods.

My preferred outfit for females is the Vault Suit and black Shadowed Leather Armour. All Heavy except the chest piece, which I keep Light. And either no headgear or a beret.

For males, I like the outfits from the Minutemen Overhaul 2.0, especially the Dark Blue Minutemen Fatigues and full Heavy Combat Armour. And a Minutemen baret.

I use some Clothing mods from nexus on my companions ~ like 50's fancy dresses, Gun straps and sunglasses

Ah, I've used the vault outfit alot on my first playthrough, but then I discovered ballistic weave.
I thought that mod was down by now? Just checked Nexus and couldn't find it.

I love that 50's look aswell, I used to collect every suspender and slacks, suits and dresses for my settlers to make a 50's themed settlement, and of course, equip them with submachine guns.

I used to go for that looks aswell, then I discovered the Magician's Tuxedo from Nuka-World, and it is also ballistic-weavable!

The Minutemen Overhaul 2.0?

As for the Vault suit, it either can be reinforced by ballistic weave in vanilla or perhaps a mod enabled it for me.

When I run in Survival level, I use the mod called "Ashara FO Under Armours" for my female character. Not only can you add the weave but can add normal armor mods to the outfit, a real must in survival mode but other difficulty levels it's kind of OP. It's really the only fashion statement I've done, most of the time it's a mish-mash of clothing where I look like a homeless person outside of the Salvation Army depot.

Other than some clipping issues, the only bug I found is that VATS will CTD if you target an npc wearing the outfit ... :/

Screenshot below, my character with Cait, she's wearing the Vest, Shirt & Skirt (black) with sturdy leather, myself in heavy leather with the Halter top & Trousers (black) ...

This is a screenshot of the mod page at Bethesda, might be a Nexus mod, idk ...

I love the SIlver shroud outfit (with the hat, and ballistic weave) and the Minutemen General's outfit (with the sea captain's hat, plus ballistic weave). I think they're both lore friendly and look killer.

There we go, yeah, just did a little search and couldn't find it, thanks!

What makes me sad is that Bethesda really should have thought the Survival mode more throughly with more ballistic weave customizations and such, without us having to depend on mods, that apparel is neat I think it's from nexus.

this is what I've been aiming for on my survival playthroughs: https://staticdelivery.nexusmods.com/mods/1151/images/11059-3-1458376995.jpg

Just wish they could be infused with BW!
Alhtough it's great that Kent offers us upgrades for the Silver Shroud costume, that's my go-to outfit for detective playthroughs, did the whole far harbor with it.

Ah, those images remind me of the 70's with a winter, biker gang look.

I'm thinking that fashion and the difficulty level comes hand in hand. The higher the difficulty the more we look for better gear and realize we can't go running about in outfits that can't have BW applied. It's ashame we can't enchant basic clothing with something, a missed opportunity no doubt (I'm talking about a low level Ghoul Slayers hat for instance, 5% instead of 15%).

For me, I mostly play normal mode, by the time I surpass level 50 I'm already shedding my better gear and throwing on an outfit without any worries about resistances. My health pads any damage at that point and if I can take about 5 to 10 punches before stimpacking, I'm happy. At a lower level, I can take 5 to 10 punches wearing the good armor so it's all relative to me. I would think it's almost like you wearing the Shroud costume in FH, some folks might think you're insane but hey, it works ... :)

In the end, I think most players look at practical gear and outfits and perhaps don't care about the fashion police showing up and arresting them when their shoes don't go with their hat! ... :P

It will be very interesting to view your all your fashion videos when you're done ... I sometimes think we all play FO4 for many reasons and one of them isn't playing FO4 the way it was designed ... ;)

Haha, we have very similar thoughts on this subject!

By the time I reach my 50's I'm with some very high-end equipment and unfortunately having to throw away some potentially nice-looking combos.

I will be uploading more combos, as you can see, I tried to provide some fashion while maintaining some proper defense.
