Terrible looking NPC's.
Why are the NPC's in this game SO terrible looking? Like wax faces and sealed ears. Just wondering why they went downhill also on modding these. We have Skyrim (oldrim) and the Special Edition and have modded NPC that look like super models. Not sure why this is not being done in Fallout 4. Maybe because of neck patch issues? All there are is slightly polished versions of what is already there. Only slight improvements. Also, look at how many follower mods there are. Every day on Skyrim beautiful scripted follower mods popping up. I am not a modder but really appreciate the work they do. Even in Fallout 3 there was nice looking people.

cbbe helps a lot, as does beautiful settlers. I have noticed that Bethesda's characters generally aren't good looking. I suppose that is for realism. The Skyrim characters look even worse. And i think even Vegas fanboys have to admit that their game is full of some ugly people.

They really aren't that bad.

The faces are fine, new vegas is worse.
Like some freak abominations or some ♥♥♥♥, that's what.

Try the mods, I mean the free mods on NexusMods.

Correct me if I am wrong but I understand the Creation Engine used for FO4 was only updated from when used for Skyrim, released in 2011.

Sounds like the Creation Engine is at least 6 years old at the core.

The Gamebryo engine was used up to and including Oblivion (TES 4).

Bethesda decided that Gamebryo's graphics were becoming too outdated and began work on Creation Engine for their next game, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, by forking the Gamebryo codebase used for Fallout 3. None of the improvements in the Fallout: New Vegas engine were carried over to the Creation Engine, due to a different company (Obsidian Entertainment) developing that game.

Following the completion of Skyrim, Bethesda set out to enhance the graphical core of the Creation engine by first adding a physically based deferred render to allow for more dynamic lighting and to paint materials object surfaces with realistic materials. Bethesda worked with technology company Nvidia to implement volumetric lighting through a technique that makes use of hardware tesselation.[1] The updated version of the Creation Engine powering Bethesda's Fallout 4, offers more advanced character generation.[2]

Seems a shame that improvements created by Obsidian Entertainment in the Fallout: New Vegas version of the game engine were never carried over to be included in the Creation engine.

It seems common these days in games to make Woman not so pretty anymore, so to doge Mails from them they just make them usualy pretty ugly and fat.
Its just funny because nearly every Male has a nearly Perfect muscular Body, nice Faces - There are no Man complaining about that because they now its just a Game not Real ;-)
I mean look the Rant Overwatch has got because they made a Skin look Mei way more Skinny..

So for me thats no wonder and it costs a lot of Money/Time to make charakters look great and still Natural

thats the sad thing the gamebro has showned it age way to much. look at most games now and how little bugs they have or opmized or better (not all) and while i am saying this i found alot more games with newer engines have far better animations and atlest 40-90time more in the game. while they wont update there animtations or the way npc moves. (i mean using real humens for the movements and program them in to the game so the look hell of alot less robot like and being able to show far better emotion (sp) with in the faces.

i also found far to lacing and missed the CGI movie clips you find in alot of games that make the game feel ..feel more. they totally f'ed up the seen where shun is being taken they could of done that million times better and have alot more emotion to it. same gos reall with everything you see the game. best games with the best CGI that makes a impact i find are Final fantasy games, RE classic games up to 3? . remember in re2 when you go walking down the hallway and then a cutsceen started with that thing (brain fart right now sry)

The skin is bad, it's more to do with lighting than with anything else I think. Games that have good looking NPCs like Witcher 3 actually only have a "Few" good looking NPCs that often have quadrupel the polygon count, and are hoisted up by special cinematic lighting infrastructure while you interact with them. Seriously, get next to a generic villager in Witcher 3 and tell me Fallout 4 looks THAT bad.

Basically Fallout 4 settled for C- on everyone, while Witcher 3 went for A+ on a dozen, and F- on everyone else.

And at least it isn't Mass Effect: Andromeda

Keep in mind, it's an apocalypse. There isn't exactly time to put on makeup or perform other beauty regimens. People like what they like, but I find the idea of CBBE or Beautiful settlers laughable and immersion breaking.

"Terrible looking NPC's."

That is what the whisky, vodka, and the very rare bottle of rum is for. You drink your chosen partner "attractive" and they drink you "interesting". Just mechanics of the vanilla game.
