There is no level limit but the game does crash once you get to the level 65,535.

Why does it crash? Is it a limitation?

The game crashes as a way of telling you it's time to stop and go get a life.

The engine can't handle the numbers anymore.

You need 253 lvl to unlock every perk and stat. So, that can be considered as the soft cap.

Lol very true

I think every perk is available by level 50 so I've always seen that as the soft level cap. Anything beyond is kind of a bonus.

That is waaaaaaay off.

Someone above said 253, but i think its closer to 279.

i think this is a big mistake on Bethesda's part. It makes builds irrelevant so that eventually you land up playing the same character over and over again. I got a mod from nexus that adds a level cap of 50. With another mod that eliminates perk level requirements, i can get more unique play-throughs.

You can just have some self control and stop using perks after a specific level.

Around 100 you are perfectly well fitted for most scenarios.

From my POV the game is cooler after level 65 cause legendaries spawns more often
