7.62 Round Ammo Question
Hi everyone!

Question of curiosity, I am lvl 52 at the moment, and I have picked up 7.62 cal rifle from a legendary raider while defending the Slog. When I looked up on wiki, it says ammo is only available in NW, but I am not there yet in my questing. I have only just started FH DLC playthrough, and I REALLY don't want to head into NW just yet.

I was wondering, since I oh so randomly picked up a NW rifle in the Commonwealth, what are the chances I may find the ammo for it in FH or mainland? And if so, where do you guys recommend to look for it?

It'll never randomly spawn without mods.

However, if you set up a NW gang settlement, the junk and weapons dealers both carry it.

Yeah, that's the thing, I am nowhere near that stage of the game. Kinda disappointing - it seems to be a very cool gun, but abscence of ammo is a bummer. I don't understand why it dropped for me in the Commonwealth?!

No, any weapon (even DLC weapons) can drop as legendaries.

However, there is a very simple mod on the nexus that adds both NW and FH weapons and ammo to the spawn lists.

Got it, will install momentarily! It's really silly that legendaries drop the guns, but ammo remains unavailable. Bethesda logic, I guess...

Thanks guys!

for the case you ever install other mods which edits exactly the same leveled lists you also can use this one which comes without the automatron weapons but it has a seperate ammunition optinal file which adds the ammunition to the scrounger perk as well.

it injects the weapons and the ammo via scripts so it dont conflict with other mods which edits the same leveled lists so you dont need to make a merge patch in this cases.

In extremely special circumstances, 7.62mm will appear in the Commonwealth, the most consistent (As already pointed out) is to use the new Raider weapon shops.

A second is a chance encounter at campsites, where a trader will be selling 7.62mm ammo. The encounter is a bit of a tease, because it implies you can send them to Diamond City where they'll set up shop and offer the elusive 7.62 in the Commonweatlh, but as far as I can tell, they never show up.

Instead, your only option to make sure they show up somewhere, is to send them to Nuka World where they will be enslaved and (if you choose later) Liberated.

Note that you must have already progressed to Underboss status to have either option available.

Also OP, most people recommend doing Nuka World first, as it is far the inferior experience to Far Habor, and it's better to end on a strong note.

I did so the first time around since I didn't get FH immideately, and used Overboss' PA targeting HUD mod to locate ghouls in dark environment of FH which was extremely helpful. It's my 4th character, but only 2nd time around going through FH and all the DLCs. Even though FH is known to better than NW, one thing I am nit looking forward to doing in FH is stupid DiMA's memories unlock quest aka FO Cube World Edition. Im to the point asking my hubby to do those puzzles for me since I am way too impatient with them, especially Marine Armor from optional memories.

Because the handmade rifle is injected in the legendary drop list once you activate the .esp of the DLC. Same goes to the weapons introduced by Far Harbor, the lever action rifle, radium rifle and harpoon launcher, being the first and the last similar cases to the handmade rifle, where ammo for them is only found in Far Harbor.

Even though the weapons themselves are added to the legendary drop list, their ammo is not added to the leveled list, so yeah, you need to travel to Far Harbor for 45-70 ammo and harpoons, and to Nuka World for 7.62 ammo, because these ammo types will not spawn even on traders.

Or, like dudes above already made clear, use a mod to modify the leveled lists to add that kinds of ammo to it and be able to find them in loot boxes, traders or enemies.

@ Naveena Vice One time fight off an legendary I looted some steel chest armour I never seen before in Boston. It looks like a large baby's bib with belts wrapped around the waist when wearing it. Whe I get 30% health 3 of my speicals get 3 ranks up.

Couple levels afterwards an pack armour from an legendary if someone hit my characters they get frozen. Pack armour? I was at level 60's before I went int NW.

I been getting waepons from other dlc's

Though I have mods, I don't have weapons, armours mods and loot mod from other dlc's
