Far Harbor 'Visions In The Fog' quest bugged, I need some help.
I started the Visions in the fog quest in the Far Harbor DLC. I drank from the Spring and a figure appeared. The figure advanced a bit west from the Spring and has no come to a complete standstill and will not move any further. So I can't follow it. When I try to talk to it, it just says "Follow". It doesn't point to anywhere, it didn't complete its way, I can't follow it if it doesn't move.

I really need help, it's a main quest, I can't continue. I tried to fast travel back to the commonwealth and fast travel back, but it doesn't work. How can I restart this?

try reloading previous save, and see if the issue keeps on going.

I hate to necro this, but I am having the same problem, and cannot seem to be able to follow Ghostly Figure. She just stands there, no matter how many times I try to replay it from old saves.
Any help is Greatly Appreciated!

Let me help you out here. I've used this type of thing before on other quests.

setstage <QuestID> <Quest stage number>

Quest ID
xx00afb1

Stage 40

https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Visions_in_the_Fog

Okay let me explain all of that. Console commands enable you to skip to a certain stage of any quest. You just need to enter the quest ID. For Visions of the Fog the code is xx00afb1. Now the first two digits in that XX are actually going to be the load order of the Farharbor DLC. So if it's the 1st loaded order it will be 01...if it's the 6th load order it will be 06. You'll have to play around with changing the number until you find out which load order it is. I believe it's 03.

The next thing you need to enter is the stage, which in this case in 40.

Now if you have to ever do this for a future quest simply use the website I entered to find the quest, and the quest stage to skip to the part of the quest you want.

You should enter:

setstage 0300afb1 40

(that is assuming it's the 03 DLC load order) does that make sense?

Thank you, you are a life saver! (or game saver, which is better!

For future reference, using the console to advance quest stages should be avoided unless absolutely necessary and then only with extreme caution. It can often break more than it fixes. Also, console commands aren't available to Survival difficulty players.

As an alternative to future people who may have this problem and find this thread, you can supposedly also ignore the bugged figure, look up the location of the shrine it's supposed to lead you to, and the quest should proceed normally once you get there with no console use needed.

That is just what I did and everything worked out fine. I try to avoid cheating by console. The only one I refuse to deal with fairly is Dima's Memory games. Can't stand that one.
But thanks much!

Actually you can use console commands in survival but it's just a bit trickier.

Go to your game options, lower difficulty. Enter whatever cheat you want. Normally you'd then be unable to enter back into survival but the code.

cgf "Game.IncrementStat" "Survival Denied" -1

Allows you to re-enter survival mode.

I think mine got stuck too the same way, I wracked my brain then I followed the path to the shrine. Basically what BardTard said. Sometimes you got to ignore the means & complete the quest.

I have a problem with this quest, because after i recovered the figure, i returned to Nucleus to talk with Richter, but he doesn't talk with me. I've tried to reload previous save but it's the same. Can you help me?

(Ps Sorry for my english is terrible)

This happened to me the mother of fog stopped after I got attacked by some wolves but I just spent like an hour exploring the area and found out if you kill all the ghouls near the children shrine it completes the quest.
