(BUG) Character Glows in Dark (FIXED)
Encountered a strange bug - all NPC's seem to glow red in the dark. Their bodies appear fine in good lighting, but whenever I go into the shadows they like.. glow. I don't have an ENB enabled, nor do I have any body mods. It's really irritating and I'd really like to get to the bottom of it if I could.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

The things that will cause that are;

1. The Power Armor Targeting HUD. Remove the mod from the PA.

2. Armored glasses. Put them on and remove them again.

3. It has been reported that in rare cases the "Horizon" mod can cause it. Uninstall the mod. Also read that sleeping might fix it.
None of these seem to work, I'm afraid. It affects all NPC's in the dark, as far as I can tell. I didn't have either of those mods installed :/

Looks nothing like Targeting HUD upgrade for PA. Besides, he is not wearing one. I've had it on my Overboss's helmet. It's a whole lot brighter and definitely would be obvious.

Judging by screenshots, it's more of a brightness settings issue in game or screen than anything else. I don't see any glow per se, just texture of the skin looks weird. Unless, there are some graphics mods installed that may have caused it.

It seems to be worse when I use an ENB, but it's still there without it (screenshots were without). Only other lighting mod I'm using is Vivid Weathers. How would I experiment with the lighting settings?

Try " cl rim 0 " in the ~ consol.

It looks like the rimlight that the game has on by default, looks ugly as hell so I turn it off.

Let me know if this fixeled it.

Sorry man, just tried it, didn't change anything :/
I can't remember it ever looking like this before, I'm at a miss as to what could be causing it.

well, try disabling the mod first and see if it changes anything.

Then it's either game settings or your screen settings that make this weird colouring.
You can look into Graphics setting for the game in the menu screen when you start the game. There is no lighting per se, but u need to check the graphics in general.

I know my game is a bit too dark for me, so i have to play it with main lights in the room off, or I can't see anything. Unlike Skyrim (that i had turn brightness all the way up), FO4 doesn't have a designated "brightness" adjustment option, so you would have to fiddle a bit. If you have adjusted anything before, try restoring the settings to default and see if it clears the issue.

I've uninstalled virtually all my mods (save ones that can't affect it, ie: vendor caps), and tried the game on both the lowest and highest settings, to no effecy.

I really am clueless to it's cause. It looks absolutely dreadful. I've found it actually affects ghoul's arms too, so there must be some issue with the body textures.
Update: I've tried using texture replacers for male and female bodies, it's had no effect. The textures look fine in the light, it's just in the dark :/

High, apart from godrays, which I have turned off (tried it on ultra, tho).
I had "fake lights" disabled, and thus was unable to adjust my cl rim in the console. I changed that and did some tweaking, but although cl rim 0 seems to make it look much worse, I can't get rid of the redish hue without my character full on glowing. I've noticed it only seems to be effecting other NPC's arms and hands, and not their faces.

https://imgur.com/a/CeGII I've uploaded some examples of me experimenting with cl rim commands. You can see how bad it is too when using the pipboy.

I really appreciate everyones help. At this rate I think I might have to try a re-install :(

Also, judging from your pictures you might want to try to find a way to turn specular off.
