Cheating
Can someone please tell me if using mods or cheating on FO4 stops me from getting steam achievments, or does it make it easier? thanks.:steamhappy:

think about it for a second
if you use cheats or mods are you really achieving achievements ?
they dont mean anything , there are mods to enable getting them regardless if you cheat or not

If you use mods, steam achievements are disabled, but ironically there is a mod that re-enables steam achievements. You can use console commands all you want though without disabling steam achievements.

There is even a mod that instantly gives you all the steam achievements for the game. I never cared enough to bother with it.

Using mods disables achievements. Using the console to spawn materials or use cheat doesn't disable achievements, but it certainly makes the game trivially easy.

Thanks for the replies, i have already played 264ish hours. and never modded or cheated. i was mostly curious from having a long chat with another gamer who uses every cheat and mod in the book. and was thinking of trying 1 or 2 things. Think ill not bother, thanks again all.

Don't forsake mods so easily! Most don't exist to make the game easier, but rather add options or fix gripes. Consider the giant unofficial bug fix mod and the mod to have conversation options that actually represent what your character will say... two mods basically everyone on PC should use.

yes there are many mods that do change things in the game and yet they don't make the game easier.
the unoficial patch bug fix patch is one.
CBBE is another.
then there are some that change the game, but are not really cheats like the sim setlements mod.
so i would say that there are mods worth looking at for different reasons.
there's one mod i use that is a cheat by far, the one that gives you the super 10mm pistol called my liitle friend.
or is it my best friend?
anyway that mod is a cheat for sure, but i like a pistol with easy to find ammo that will one shot about anything.
ok, now i've admitted i'm a cheater, but i have a nice smile.

The achievments being disabled is more for game consoles, we just mod around it. But, otherwise no one or the game cares, you can just console command all achievments as well.

Using the ingame cheat console dont deactivate achievements

using mods deactivate achievements until you use the mod which reenable them.

Just get an achievement unlocker script for all your Steam games.

I cheated on the game and it costed me a fortune in litigation fees, I still don't know when I will get to see my achievements again.
