question about trading posts
So I'm expanding one of settlements and I want to start building trading posts and other shops. Is it worth building a seporate trading post, weapons shop, and armor shop? or should I just build the trading post?

You come across "named" npc's that can/want to fill these positions. Build as many as you want, you end up with more income as you do.

Its a good idea to have 1 of each store type in your primary settlement, but theres no need to have all the different stores in every settlement. I usually have a bar in each settlement to raise happiness and leave the armor and weapons vendors for my main base of operations.

As mentioned above, there are certain named NPCs you can recruit to take certain shops from tier 3 to tier 4, tier 4 shops have higher end gear, but you need the right named NPC for the right store. For example, you can put an old aquantance from before the bombs fell to work in a tier 3 general store to take it to tier 4 (trying to avoid spoilers, you'll know him when you see him).

Download a mod called Sim Settlement. You will still be able to micro manage and build everything ... but when you are away it will manage stuff for you automatically so it's cool to comeback to a settlement after weeks of travel to see how the town and settlers have expanded on its own.
