Do companions perform critical hits?
Ive just got my hands on the legendary freezing 38. sniper rifle, which does 10 cryo damage and, in case of a critical hit, freezes the enemy. I actually changed the caliber now for the higher damage but then i thought of changing back to the 38. caliber since i have tons of ammo and giving it to my companion, would be sweet if hes able to freeze some enemies while the heat is rising. if you know what i mean? ;).

so now im not sure if they actually do perform critical hits at all. i could just try and go ahead but i dont want to waste that rifle on the companions for hours if they cant to critical hits anyway.

My experience says, yes. But if I am wrong I role play that I am right. Same with gear that adds perception to settlers. I RP it matters regardless of GECK.

The onyl time I ever seen those procs triggers is if I do a critical in VATS. Since companions do not use VATS...um not hard to figure out.

yh, that could actually be the answer, i used another rifle with plasma damage, and im not sure if they ever got "gooed" when i shot them outside of vats.

first of all, they need to hit anything at all, before they can even get a chance to crit and god forbid, never hand them an automatic

haha thx for the advice :D. i was about to give deacon this freezing sniper rifle, and i figured since hes using the hunting rifle by default, and he often hits the target, that not much could go wrong :D
