Specialized Settlements
I just got supply lines and I want to just specialize each settlement. Any suggestions for which settlements should do what jobs? For example, I'm planning on using Spectacle Island for water, Abernathy Farm for tatos, and Hangman's Alley for scavenging.

Personally I use settlements that are in hotzones as artillery positions. Hangman's alley is a good example for a great place for artillery, as the city tends to have the most fighting.

I build something themed by place usually
- Echo Lake Lumber (Far Harbor) Using DLC items (I have season pass) to replace Sawmill(1) and collapsed store houses (2). Then I place scavenging tables to make "Working" lumber mill...
- First Place where Preston send me, will become Minutemen camp with barrack, hospital, armoury etc...
- Sanctuary is town
- County Crossing - Military camp
- Greentop nursery - muitfruit plantation
- Place where Boomes is will become Quarry with mods....
- Nordhagen beach - harbor

Keep in mind settlers like to each tatos before any other food. Once the settlement is in a supply chain it will draw tatos from other settlements before consuming other food types.

I use Red Rocket Truck Stop as my home base, and I've used the Raider Cages and Gunner Cages to make a farm for weapons and armor to make caps off of.

well all your settlements can do water, but specializing crops isnt a bad idea. yuge get and nice amount growing at each of Corn, Tato, and Mutfruit, you have unlimited adhesive.

a nice flat settlement might be a good location for scavenging stations as well as workshop machinery to produce ammo and other various products.

Yeah, I've thought of doing that, but I want to turn a settlement into a factory instead. It might not be as efficient, but it would be more reliable and I like the industrial aesethic of all the conveyor belts and machines and such.

I think you underestimate the sheer volume of tatos I aim to produce. The Commonwealth shall run red with the fruits of my labors.
