add those from the F4SE 1.10.40 build 0.6.3 package you downloaded ,
they dont over write if you update from and older f4se version (10.26) you have to remove the old ones ,
you can check your f4se log to see what's failing (it's with your save files )
Second most common is not starting the game with the f4se_loader.exe instead of the game launcher.
yes, launch the game via the f4se_loader.exe (i run it with admin privileges)
F4se folder will be in game data.
Open and read the 'read me text'.
Highlight the 'three files' stated and move them to game main page.
Click of F4se_loader to start game
3 files are
f4se_1_10_40.dll
f4se_loader
f4se_steam_loader.dll
Fallout 4 Script Extender (F4SE)
f4se.silverlock.org/
Installer not working, use 7zip. (not updated)
Right click on DL and open it
Transfer folder to game data
Then continue as I mention above
f4se_loader.exe , f4se_1_10_40.dll and f4se_steam_loader.dll should only be in the main game folder , not installed at all in the data>f4se folder
open the f4se.log file in your docs>games(?) > fallout4 folder , where the games save files are , what does it say ?
set the permissions to admin for the loader too
Only difference between the two is the installer (when working) adds a uninstaller to the game main page, making removal easier a one click operation.
if asked to over write say yes .
that will put everything in the right place .
if your updating from an oder version of f4se(10.26) you need to remove the .dll's (2) and the .exe for the old f4se , they will not be over written , you have to do it
Pike clearing it allow a fresh start for him/her
you need to have a fallout4custom.ini with these lines in it
[Display]
iLocation x=0
iLocation y=0
[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=
[Launcher]
bEnableFileSelection=1
if you dont have it , just make a new text document and name it Fallout4Custom.ini
so start the game normal , let it build the .ini's and set the options,
then install f4se as i said ,
if you have steam cloud enabled for the game turn it off , it will try and re-install the game to the last cloud save , so it's probably all screwed up , dont use cloud save for games you mod
take your time , dont get frustrated , maybe have a cup of tea and play with the dog or cat for a few mins to reset yourself
