NMM not activating my mods after installing script extenders of any sort
Not only for Fallout 4 but also Fallout: New Vegas and Skyrim script extenders make it so my mods absolutely will not activate. I have fully uninstalled all the games, getting rid of every trace of them, and uninstalled and reinstalled the mod manager itself. I'm sure NMM isn't the issue because I tried using FOMM on New Vegas to no avail as well. I'm at a loss on what to do and would greatly appreciate any advice anyone can give.

In addition here is a detailed description of what happens every time:
I install one of the three games, make sure it is running correctly on its own, install a script extender of some sort, download a mod to NMM/FOMM, go to activate said mod, it reaches 50% of the activation progression, and then stops, tries for a good thirty seconds to two minutes more to install, and then states that "The mod was not activated." I then uninstall the script extender for whatever game I have installed at the time and then install non-script extender required mods and they happen to install just fine.

Did you edit the INI file to allow modding?

By script extender, do you mean that you are using the latest version of F4SE?

Is your game directory in the Program Files tree?
Yes, by script extender I mean all version of F4SE, NVSE, and SKSE. My game directory is under Program Files (x86).

I have heard of people having issues with read/write permissions if their game directory is in the Program Files tree. Especially if you are using win10. Try moving the game directory outside of program files and see if that works.
Iv ran into a problem that stops manually installed mods from being activated?
What ini and what peramiter do i change to allow modding?

Read the top pinned thread in this forum, there is a list there.

One thing you want to make sure is that NMM is set to start in admin mode, because sometimes it will not install certain files properly. I had this issue with Skyrim.

Check to make sure you have all the right script extender subfolders in your data folder. There should be a scripts folder with all the script extender scripts and a folder called f4se with a subfolder called plugins.

If you got all of that then I would start the game and see if the script extender is working by opening the console and typing getF4SEversion (fallout 4) or getSKSEversion (skyrim). It's not case sensetive. If it returns with the script extender version and you got all the right subfolders, then try installing v0.63.15 of NMM from here https://github.com/Nexus-Mods/Nexus-Mod-Manager/releases And remember to check the box in the properties to make it start as administrator.

If it's still not installing and you're on Windows 8.1/10, then go to:
This PC > C: drive > Users > [username] > AppData (make sure you have hidden folders enabled) > Local > Fallout 4

You should see some text files in there. make sure none of the text files are set to read only.

For Fallout 4, go to your Documents, then My Games, then Fallout 4.
Open Fallout4Prefs.ini, find [Launcher] and past this underneath it: bEnableFileSelection=1
Next open Fallout4Custom.ini and past this in there

[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1

Would I just move the Steam folder itself and where to would be a good place?

How do I make sure they are not read only?

Right click on them and select properties. There should be a check box that says Read-only. Make sure it's not checked

Alright all of them are not checked so I'll make sure to run it in admin mode later once I have time.

Yeah make sure you start NMM in admin mode when you run it, even if you move your games out of your program files.

And I suggest you do because like Chef said, having them in that folder can cause problems with the games not getting proper permissions and you end up having issues

Should I move the Steam folder itself or just certain games? Also where should I move them?
RyanBurnsRed Nov 24, 2017 @ 10:05am
You don't have to move the Steam folder. Just move the games out of Program Files. You can still keep them on your C Drive, but unless your C Drive is an SSD, then I suggest you move them to a different hard drive if you have one

OP, where did you install the three script extenders to?

They do Not go into the games Data folder like mod files do. You place them in the Main Game folder for each game.
