Editing the custom.ini for mods makes all textures blurry
This has been driving me crazy, any time i edit the Custom.ini to allow mods, my textures suddenly become all blurry and low res? the minute i take the changes out the .ini the graphics return to normal. Ive fully uninstalled and reinstalled Fo4 but im still having this issue, does anyone have a solution?

I get this as well although i have no idea why. Maybe its the custom.ini? I dont even know what that is. :)

You sure it's not any ENB settings ? I know there is a setting that slaps that depth in blur effects to literally everything, even the main PC. If you are using ENB, open it ingame and check the settings. Should be a simple toggle option

what entries are present inside the fallout4custom.ini except for the 2 entries to enable mods?

I've noticed that, too! But it is only sometimes, like it has a delayed LOD call or something, the normal res textures pop in eventually. It's only sometimes, really no clue what causes this.

[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=

This is all i have in the custom.ini. whenever the Archive part is removed textures return to normal so the issue is with that line, however ive copied it exactly as i saw it on the wiki

So I'm taking a guess here. Since the archive enteries enable mods, and you have the problem when you have the archive enteries there you have a problem, could it be a mod causeing your issue?

And I can't speel today, thats a whole other issue though.

Your issue has Nothing to do with those 3 lines you added to the Custom.ini. They are to allow nexus mods to work and Nothing else. So, you added the lines, nexus mods work And one or more of the mods you installed are causing your problem.

I suggest uninstalling any texture mods you downloaded.

So i currently dont have any mods installed, after editing the .ini i started up the game to make sure it worked and i was met with the texture issues. It is only when these lines are in the custom.ini that it happens, more specifically when bInvalidateOlderFiles= has a 1 at the end of it, that is when the issues occur. Ive reinstalled the game twice now, revalidated all my files and deleted and reobtained the .ini files but no help unfortunately

It's still not the 3 lines causing it. Those lines do Nothing by themselves. With no mods installed they are just useless line entries. You have something else going on.

Did you have nexus mods installed before you re-installed the game? If so, after uninstalling the game did you delete everything remaining in the game folder and the Fallout4.ini and Fallout4Prefs.ini Before you re-installed the game?

I already had NMM installed, but ive never used it for Fo4 until now. With the exception of my save files which i backed up i totally removed the game from my pc, .ini files included and then had a clean reinstall. After making this post last night, i did all this again but the issue still wont go away

Post a screenshot of those blurry textures.

I have chores to do, but I'll be back later. With a screen others here may be able to tell what is really going on.

Try a clean install of your graphics driver using DDU Display Driver Uninstaller.
