fallout 4 not accepting xbox one controller

This has been driving me mad for months. I can't seem to get the xbox one controller to work with fallout 4 no matter what controller configuration I set it too. I load the game, the controller is on and steam says my controller is connected but fallout 4 doesn't accept it. It works fine with every other game I have except fallout, am I doing something wrong? Or does fallout 4 not work with xbox one controllers

I ran into the opposite. When I have a controller plugged in, my mouse and keyboard won't work until I turn off the Xbox one controller in options.

I have two Xbox one controllers and they are both plug 'n' play on windows 10.

Check the game options.

And you didn't disable it in your INI?

Fallout 4 does In fact work with xbone controllers..but In steam big picture for the most part unless they fixed that (I still have to use It):
Open steam big picture, check your settings on the controller and see If steam even knows It's connected.

wired to PC but wireless on my xbox

Works for me. Make sure it is turned on in the Game Options. You won't be able to mouse and keyboard play while it is turned on in Game Options.
