Damage multipliers on "survival" difficulty.
I looked it into many pages, and found a lot different answer. So i decided to open the creation kit, and look into it myself. I used before in New Vegas to increase all damage taken, and given through difficulty settings (that's the only stuff which truly affects everything).

So the numbers are equivalent of the Very Hard difficulty by default. I say by default, because the "adrenalin" perk incrase damage done by 5%/rank up to bonus 50%.

So if you wish to "practice" for survival before starting the game like that, and ragequit, because of the new saving system know that Very Hard is actually harder in combat. You get the same damage, but deal less damage, because no adrenalin perk. As long as you refuse to use healing items in combat.

EDIT: Detailed testing without mods proven, that currently the incoming multiplier is 4. Which means, that on survival you take 4 times damage of normal, and very hard works properly with the double damage on player. It is very likely, that damage done by player is 0.75 on survival, and 0.5 on very hard.

My current game is on survival, albeit heavily modded and I HATE the save system. Wasting an hour of game play is no fun and I've died so many times lol. Mainly because one of the mods I'm using, (modern weapons) I think actually makes it even harder because all the mobs also have the potential to one-shot you. Still fun though :)

https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/20952/? this mod author explains what is going on. in terms of damage modifiers.

you are correct that, techincally according to the console/creation kit, you take 2x and deal .5x in survival. which is the same as very hard. however, when you play on survival those modifiers are multiplied by a value of 1.5x for the player and 2x for enemies. so you deal .75x damage and take 4x damage. that is why it feels easier to kill things in survival mode than very hard but you die in like 2 hits because you are taking four times damage.

so it's not the same. however i would not recommend installing this mod to "fix" the modifiers. because it basically halves the damage you take and doubles the damage you deal and makes even an unmodded pipe pistol a cannon of the Gods.

So there is a second value, that affect survival. Not really makes sense, but if what you say is true, then "Very Hard" is gona be a piece of cake after survival.

I think it's 3x damage to the player, x0.75 to enemies. (But with Adrenaline, it can be x1.25)

The wiki claims Quad damage, but I don't think so. Either that or how the armor functions masks it effectively enough to not care. I think most people believe it's more than just 50% greater damage than Very hard because of how explosives deal damage. They deal both cripple and health damage, and if it cripples a limb, any remaining cripple damage bleeds into health, which can result in some collossally powerful instant-kills even with power armor on. (Once you lose your Power armor, you take limb damage again)

As an anecdote to an already off-topic rant, this is universal, which is what makes explosives so powerful, including explosive-shot weapons. So, strangely, the best legendary modification for a Missile Launcher is in fact, crippling. A crippling Missile launcher, even with zero skill in explosives or big guns, absolutely destroys otherwise hardened enemies like Mirelurks and is one of the few weapons that can cripple a Deathclaws legs in a single shot.

I had some testing now. Disabled mods, loaded a save in the vault so lvl1, removed all items, and given some molotovs with console, then increased health to 2000. I thrown molotovs right below me, and here are the results:

Normal: 1999-1949=50
Hard: 1899-1824=75 (i accidentally thrown a 2. on normal after value written to forum)
Very Hard: 1824-1724=100
Survival: 1724-1524=200

Now the tricky part is, that when i damage myself does the damage multiplier done by me counts or not?

99.9% of the forums agreed that normal is 1 hard is 1.5 and very hard is 2 times damage taken which suggest, that there is no reduction on damage done side on self damage, or these values are wrong.

In case of the former it means, that Survival is 4 times greater damage than normal. And even more this mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/14650/? allows to change damage multipliers, and ironically 1 times damage is actually double compared to the true normal. It is very likely, that this:

Comment is actually true. On the incoming damage at least.

Very Hard is just enemies soaking up unreasonable amounts of bullets, and I don't bother with Surivival because I already have a "needs" mod that can be adjusted. Hard with the need to eat, drink and sleep at reasonable intervals is working.

The ammount the character needs is quite normal compared to the game's timescale. The problem is, that timescale is too fast. I was thinking about altering the timescale to closer to realistic so i can go through the whole commonwealth in a night.

most annoying part about survival is catching some disease every 8 in-game hours.
