Fallout 4 Can't Save, Windows 10, Bitdefender user [SOLVED]

Hi guys, I've actually solved this issue, I just want to get this out there so when the holidays/sales come around this information pops up on searchs if people have this irritating issue. I'm actual the son of this steam account owner, I just bought him F4 GOTY and for some reason it wasn't saving to the Documents/MyGames/Fallout4/Saves folder. This is how I fixed it.

[Symptoms]
If your game always goes through the video settings auto detection on startup, is not saving the video changes you make, and is not saving character saves (all of these together, not just one or another), this is probably why if you have Bitdefender. Bitdefender will not say Fallout 4 is acting malicious in anyway, it will just say it has normal permissions and such. However, it will be inadvertantly blocking Fallout 4 because of a feature called "Safe Files."

[Steps to solve this issue.]

1. In the tasktray at the bottom right of the desktop, click Bitdefender's icon to open the user interface.

2. On the left side of the UI, press the [Shield with a B] icon aka Protection.

3. Click "View Features", located under the autopilot toggle.

4. Find the "Safe Files" section (bottom right of Bitdefender 2018)

5. Set to Off.

Now your Fallout 4 should start to make saves and changes in the Documents/MyGames/Fallout4 folder and .ini file. You should no longer be prompted that the game is auto detecting video settings on startup.

Bethesda, I recommend you add this issue/fix to your support page because I couldn't find any information on this, especially since I ruled out Bitdefender as the issue early on in my troubleshooting process.

You should try reinstalling BitDefender then. Most, if not all BitDefender's issues resolve on a fresh install. I had one where the Protection Shield blocked the TLS Handhakes of 99.9% of the internet.

Maybe, but it would have been overkill for this issue.

It was literally a button lol. His game is working fine now.

Software issues rarely exist in a vacuum. It's likely there's another issue happening he just hasn't linked to BitDefender yet. Consider that most everyone else doesn't have to take this step. There's obviously something wrong with the install. It happens, and it happend mostly this year I think? I've had 4 other people complain of issues that turned out to be BitDefender related. All minor, all solved with a reinstall of the service. But still.

Just something to keep in mind if anything else happens in the future I guess.
