Hacker perk

Im going after kellogg at fort hagen,
Im at a terminal that says i require a higher level hacker perk

I need to level up my character and then add points to hacker perk

What level hacker perk do I need ?
and
As i cant get through this terminal just now , can i return later to complete the quest ?

what level is the terminal? Novice, Advanced, Expert, or Master? Novice is the basic one that everyone can do at the start,

1st level of Hacker lets you do Advanced,
2nd lets you do Expert,
3rd lets you do Master
4th prevents Lockouts (I think)

You shouldn't need the hacker perk to get to kellogg. There' should be a way around.

The armory terminal? There is a password in a toolbox in a cafeteria; the other password is on Kellog and can unlock his personal terminal

If you mean any other terminal than you will have unlock a perk

Mater terminal under fort hagen,
I didnt realise there was way round and avoid the door..
I'll check around to see if I can get to him without the locked terminal door..

Yep, final rank of the hacker perk prevents lockouts.
If Valentine is your companion he can hack terminals for you, up to Master, just direct him to use the terminal.

Thanks, I was following the tunnels under fort hagen looking for kellogg and they lead me to a a locked door with a terminal, I assumed I had to unlock it to find him.
But passing by it through the tunnel lead me to him anyway,

Its good to know that valentine is useful for locked terminals.

If the story demands that you get through a terminal, there is always a password hidden somewhere. If it's a high level terminal that isn't necessary for the story, it may still contain bonus information or story items. Or a pile of bullets
