Massive slowdown near Super Mutant areas.
No matter what my graphics settings are on I always go from 60 fps to 12 or less when I'm around areas held by Super Mutants. From Ultra to Minimum to the modded Clay textures for calculaors to run the game, there is always horrible slowdown.

Is there a fix for this, either by changing a few values in a .ini file somewhere or a mod on the Nexus? I'd like to be able to get to Goodneighbor sometime.

There are stability and slowdown fixes on the Nexus for Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Are there any for Fallout 4 that you would recommend?

This is simply shi-tty engine. You can't do anything about that. There is no rig in existence that would handle 60 fps in boston, and its been 2 fu--cking years. Instead of fixing their products, bethesda apparently is more interested in making you pay twice for the them.

Mods i can say, that help a whole lot, are shadow boost, god rays performance fix, vivid textures and grafx. Shadow boost will help you the most, just set the shadow distance to something low, like 3000.

Bethesda's engine problems don't explain this. This is unusually bad. And I've never heard of Super-Mutant areas causing this, maybe you should be more specific?

There really isn't too much more it. I think its specifically Super Mutant inhabited areas, but I'm not completely sure.

Going through Boston (or whatever the area around Goodneighbor is called, I can't remember right now) is probably the worst area simply because I have to go through there so often. There is also a small town near Quincy that resembles Sanctuary but is inhabited by Super Mutants and I experience slowdown there as well. Gore bags and fires everywhere.

Then I went to the Satellite array where the Brotherhood of Steel distress beacon was and got some slowdown, but it wasn't as bad as in Boston or that small town near Quincy.

Three different areas and the only thing I can think of that they have in common is that they're all inhabited by Super Mutants.
