very noticable, debating on keeping my FPS cap at 48 or making it 30 now. (DC is the least worst area with fps drops btw.

may not be laggy but still you will find a noticeable frame drop.

It appears you have your Intel Graphics selected. Use performance settings, laptop plugged in.

Your nvidia graphics driver is also out-of-date.
Relist specs after investigating how to switch your GPU to 960M

Seriously.

As everything PC gaming related; drop your shadows.

Shadows, smoke effects and now "God Rays2 are the prime culprits in killing performance. Usually for not much noticeable effect either. The differences in High and Ultra are usually only noticeable in static screenshots and doesn't justify the drop in framerates.

There's a mentality around some parts that unless everything's running on Ultra it's not a proper experience. That is patently nonsense.

aye well, 1 my graphics card is set to my nvidia card
2 while it is out of date its very slight and I dont really see any reason to update yet.

Your 960M has only 1Gb vram? and only supports PCI 8X? That does not seem correct.

What usually happens is that nVidia release updated drivers that will usually... ahem... massage better performance for current games.

In other words they newer drivers will introduce game-specific workarounds for getting performance up to where people are expecting them to be. That's also the reason why there seems to be a new ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ driver update every 5 seconds.

Also, 9 months might not seem long for a GPU driver update but there have been major updates to Win 10 so... Also, you may always roll the driver back,

oh dear, well then I am unable to use the steam system check as it's not getting the proper information even after changing my default card back to nvidia.

Reboot, then relaunch steam?
