Settlers and thirst zapper
so if i give a quantum thirst zapper to a settler and one ammo, will they use it infinitely like with most guns or will it use up the one ammo and need more like as if you gave them a fatman

Settlers usually don't eat up ammunition, but I could be wrong as my game specifically never has them consume any.
So don't note me on that, try it yourself.

Your settlers don't use ammo, healing, food, drink and drugs.
Your companion will use ammo, but there is a mod that stops them using ammo.

Non-companion NPCs don't normally use up ammunition, but there are a few weapons with which they do, such as the fat man or the missile launcher (and they also use up grenades, if they have those). I couldn't say for a quantum thirst zapper without checking, though I've also considered the acid soaker as a possibility.

I also don't remember how they went with a quantum paddle ball, though I did try that out.

Actually, settlers do use stimpacks to heal themselves in combat and stimpacks get properly consumed too.

It's another bit of general NPC behaviour. Even random gunners and raiders will inject themselves with some healing if they happen to have a stimpack.
