Why is thing to get into the institute not working?

Ive had problems with this on xbox, and my first playthrough on PC, this is my third time playing, and i just can't get it to work

Everything has power,
Everything is connected to each other,
I have all 3 pieces
The teleporter thing has a beam coming out of it, proving that it has power

I've removed everything 4 times and replaced it all down again, and it just doesn't work, please help me with this!

what is the 4th? I have the dish, control panel, and big tall thing shooting laser

There's the platform you need to stand on, the tower thing that snaps to it, the control panel and the dish.

Then you talk to the person standing at the control panel before walking over and stepping on the platform.

Yeah, i have all of it (I thought the tall thing and the bottom piece were 1 thing, i stopped playing for a few months because i couldn't get it to work then, still can't get it to work now) And talking to the guy isn't working either, he just tells me that hes 'been hittin the chems way to hard'

It's a quest, the machine doesn't actually function on it's own. Do what the quest tells you to do next. Where is it pointing you to?

it has a green arrow above every piece of the machine, so one above control panel, one about big laser thing, one above radar dish, quest just tells me to make the machine

That means it's not built correctly, I'm guessing not enough power. The whole thing needs like 30 or 40 power to work. You might have the main platform powered but are short for the console or something.

I've ragequit now, but i had 10 generators all connected, all powering each thing, everything had enough power, i made sure.

The game dislikes me

10 small generators might not be enough, I don't remember.

It might just be bugged, you can use console commands to skip that stage and get to the telporting stage. The wikis usually list out the quest IDs and stages.
