Lost a menu in Workshop mode
This is not a high priority for me since I really could care less about whiny, unhappy settlers. But while messing with the house kit mods (installing and uninstalling improperly), I managed to lose my original menus for building structures. I still have access to furniture, special items, crafting stations, etc. Just can't build the crappy shacks, metal buildings, etc.

Has anybody else successfully recovered from this? I believe the mod was Snappy House Kits that caused me to lose my original menu. I've already tried the restore default menus that mod developer offered as a fix. No dice.

Any helpful ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Delete strings file, Then reverify game integrity.

uninstall all mods, verify the files and reinstall all mods. Also make sure to install settlement keywords

Thanks for the suggestions. I will give both a shot today.

Neither of those will bring your menu back - and they are unnecessary.

All you need to do is start a new game and *for that game* everything will be normal.

Otherwise, you need to reinstall what you uninstalled, load a save from back when that stuff was installed, and then *uninstall it according to the mod's uninstall instructions'.

Some of those mods use a scripted menu installer - so they don't screw up menus through conflicts with other mods - and they have to have a script run to turn them off before uninstalling or you lose menus in your game.

Incun - your suggestion of reproducing the proper scenario for doing a proper uninstallation sounds like it may work, but first I will check to see if I go far enough back to a save where I had the menus.

Also, you mentioned scripting which must happen every time I load the game. Could it be as easy as opening a script editor and adding the line back in that tells it to load the menu I removed?

Not at this point - there's a lot screwed up in how the menus are organized due to your removing the mod this way.

Really, the only way to fix it is to reinstall, revert to an older save, properly uninstall (the mod should have come with an uninstall script - usually in-game in the form of a holotape command or craftable chem - and then deactivate the mod.

Or start a new game.

You could also try this one:

Otherwise, your only other options is to do as Incunabulum advised.
