I'm stuck with two Codsworth companions
I've got two Mr. Handy bots, one of them being the real Mr. Codsworth, and the other being a look-alike that either responds with "Hello there!" or "Good day to you!". And I can't kill the duplicate or send it off, even when dismissing the original Codsworth. It just. Won't. Go. Away.

If the 2nd mister handy is white then it's another character.

If you just want to kill the other companion, you can open console, click on him and type "disable". Be aware that this will delete whatever you clicked on PERMANENTLY, so make sure you haven't selected anything else.

Uh, no.
Disable doesn't delete references, It only hides them.
MarkForDelete deletes them across your entire save profile. and Isn't the one that's recommended.

Do you have the hack perk?

Mods? I don't run mods but I see many problems on the forum that are associated with mods.

I honestly don't completely remember. I mistook him for the real companion for awhile and just stook with him for abit while getting acquainted with Diamond City. Until I fast traveled back to Sanctuary where the sight of another Codsworth ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ me.

Just a few mods. But the ones I have been using (CBBE, 100% Idiot Savant, Clearwater) seem highly unlikey to have caused this. I do have an Unlimited Companion mod, but haven't used its command prompts at all. I have all the DLCs, but only engaged with the Automatron to the point where I sent Ada off to Sanctuary Hills and need to investigate General Atomics. And I don't have the Robot Hack perk, if that's what you meant.

if it robtics perk check if you can hack it for detonation!
and yes owned following robots can be rehacked in stealth mode!
only standrad perk that allows you to have 500+ following robots is the robot hacking perk!
and need to be rehacked to detonate them!

and yes that perk allows you to travel with your own robot army!

since main follower has its own slot
and hacking bots count as each added seperate follower in there own slots and need be detonated per bot to get rid of them!
and quest is also a seperate slot! where you must complet the quest series to get rid of that follower!

The duplicated one in particular looks exactly like the Codsworth we met before the atom bomb dropped. It still has the reflection of the pre-war home on its exterior. Comparing the two is like a before and after photo.

Before I tried the MarkForDelete I made a back-up save and so far everything seems fine. Other than the shrine of prewar Codsworth in the middle of Diamond City, no problems :)
