Any mods that fix stealth?
I find stealth in this game very fun...but also very stupidly broken. I can stand in middle of the day 10 feet from an enemy and they dont see me. Yet another enemy can spot me in the dead of night from a mile away and snipe me with a pistol...because npcs either cant the broadside of a barn or have the accuracy of appollo himself.

I'd love to fix that whole range doesn't affect npc's accuracy. Exception of course a sniper but thats getting picky.
I'd love to not get spotted in pure darkness from a mile away behind a bush before I can even fire a shot.
I'd not mind having npcs stare at me and not see me 10 feet away.

Idk if this is even possible.

I've kind of delth with the last myself, at least in theory. I use a mod that made it darker (truenights) and West tek night vision mod to make up for not being able to see, and mostly plaly at night so I could at least belive it's just dark and they dont see me....
doesn't explain how other guy can spot me coming from a mile down the road lol.

I agree with all you said about stealth... it's a joke I guess we have to put up with.

It might just be me but i think it's specificly worse with Super mutants. Or maybe it's just where they tend to hang out. (large open structures.) I'm on the BoS mission at the radar station and I am stuck on a stealth char. Instantly get detected and shot with a missle as I approach the base. No matter how quietly and cautiously I move. Insta-death every time.

I like how almost useless Silencers are. Pop a guy in the head with a silencer, It still alerts his 3 buddys in the other room.

Im not sure about true nights but with darker nights theres an option when installing to make enemy detection more believable depending on how dark it is. You could see if true nights has this or download darker nights and eneable the option.

Stealth has always been broken af in Bethesda rpg's. At low perk/skill/level and without appropriate armor at the start of the game, you get spotted a mile out under cover of night or heard slowly sneaking up to someone wearing even just clothing. Then at high perk/skill/level it becomes the exact opposite. You can break the hell out of the game. Enemies in broad daylight will not see you if you're parked two feet up their ass, and you will go unheard wearing any amount of armor. Of course there are other variables like the type and level of enemy (their Perception) you're sneaking on but overall...yeah...

And don't get me wrong- it's fun most times but there are those moments that just make you shake your head at the game. Like...immersion breaking, suspension of disbelief is impossible moments. "Really? You uh, you really didn't see me? I just walked past you...like RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU."

I also find it funny and ironic there are those people that will say "Power Armor build too op, VATS too op, blah blah." but then play a stealth sniper or Blizter. They're all op in one way or another. It is a single player game and balance really isn't the main point (I'd feel kind of jipped if I wasn't feeling like the biggest badass in the wastes after so many levels), at least to me, but played right and from my experiences, I'd say stealth is potentially THE most op.
You just don't take damage (unless you done effed up), floortraps and mines become nothing, you can run and hide (Stealth Boys are amazing), pop chems in a cinch, and once you get the proper perks and weapons, you can pretty much one shot almost everything in the game, on Survival no less.

My last character was a stealth melee (non-Blitz/VATS) / sniper and even still most times I found myself going over to my loud Handmade Rifle or grenades or whatever else in most situations. I would just snipe the tough stuff because the lack of threat became boring to me to an extent. I wore the Merc armor from L0rdofWar's mod, upgraded to the max, and (pretty sure) it was heavier than Heavy Combat armor, and still I had no problem sneaking in for throat cuts. That, and using Throwing Knives from Sean_s' Grenade Expac 2 really became the funnest parts of sneaking to me.
I played this character quite a ways, to about level 95, but finally just got so bored and re-rolled to another tried and true Power Armor bruiser with automatics and heavy weapons. I just like the stompy stompy and the big bada boom a bit more. To each their own.

I honestly think its funny anyone can be stealthy in power-armor to begin with. Like you can hear the thing clunking around a mile away.

Im waiting for a mod that turns power armor into Zoids...i think that was the name. Lol (giant fighting robot suits shaped like animals)

I actually restarted my game with a selection of mods. One thing is I'm removing modern weapons until late game as I find them too op, even if they look so great on my char.
I also am OCD so I wasn't happy with my settlements, so I grabbed one that clears everything from sanctuary so I could give it a fresh start.

This time around I'm going to focus a little less on stealth and more into a hardy "front lines soldier" who can take a few hits. This way I can still play stealthy when it matters but can also go loud when needed.

You deal +25% damage with a silencer attached with the Ace Operator perk. It's not even about the sound at that point.

I never get spotted. They always fall for the companion decoy so I can chop them up as they run past.

Chameleon helps. A lot.

I only ever use dogmeat, I like the extra carry weight of lone wanderer and I find their constant chat annoying... trying to sneak up and your whistling lol.

Lol flawless example of how horrible it is...attacking the cortga (or whatever) assembly plant.

I silently sneak up to the top. I kill a guy silently with a knife sneak attack. 0 noise. guy on ground sees me and suddenly I'm getting shot from everydirection...

Also a guy lobbed a grenade 20 stories up...so immersive.

Possible explanation is Roving Patrols and the NPC's at Corvega can see up through metal walkways. You're moving quiet but, you need at least a Stealth Boy to be invisible to the patrols.

Oh, and the guy works out at Madden's Gym. That's why he can throw a grenade 20 stories up. But, Corvega ain't nowhere near 20 stories tall. More like 5.

I scare myself at high levels of stealth. I literally end up face to face with a mob that I did not know it was there because it didnt go into "something stealthing nearby mode."

I liek the blind shots they take at stealthed targets though. Keeps the game from getting too cheesed with stealth.

I guess its Immersive if the guy has a fat man to lob it in your general direction.

but the AI also has infinite ammo, so hell they should be lobbing fat men just randomly in that case.
