Why are ghouls so op in survival?
Im trying to play survival but im having a issue with ghouls. They are too fast to aim for without wasting tons of ammo plus it only takes one slap from them for you to be dead...

Dodge or block, use Rad-X/Glowing Blood Packs. Stay stealthy.

Just as it's mentioned above: shoot the legs. You only have to cripple one to make a ghoul helpless. And apparantly their legs are pretty fragile even if it's legendary charred ghoul.

Same works for Gen2 synths too, except synths with ranged arms can still shoot when you're in front of them.

If you have all DLCs, then just build decontamination archs to hub settlements and use them as bases, when clearing areas around them.

At least that is what I do. I restarted some time ago. I have archs currently in Sanctuary and Starlight. If radiation gets way too high, then I can always run to these settlements, clear the radiation, drink some water and run right back to where I came from.

I have added some extra features to counter benefits from DLCs. Such as earlier sunset (18.00), Settlements Lights Out (mod that disables pre-placed settlement lights), added True Storms (for more rough radiation storms) and radiation from mini-nuke blasts (which for some reason was not in the game.)

Glowing ones are still a pain though. I might have to grab a RadAwy after fighting one, especially if weather is bad and storm does not set. I encountered a mother of all rad storms in my previous game. Damn thing raged for ever, while I was trying to find a safe location to hide from it. Then I encountered another Glowing One on a road and had to actually run, after wasting the RadAway I had carried with me.

Feral Ghouls cause radiation damage through power armor and conventional ballistic weave clothing, and popping rad-x every time you see a feral ghoul is a little too tedius

I always keep one dose of MedX on me for when I run into bugs. Really makes a difference between dieing and living. And no side effects from it.
Do the Mechanist related quests and get that Tesla rifle. Great at crowded ghoul control.

Ghouls themselves don't feel Op,

The stagger effect feels OP. When you get randomly staggered and spent 4 seconds standing there unable to do anything while you get gangbanged by reavers until your did.

learn to use block...when they telegraph that big overhand right and then charge just block and hit with melee weapon or rifle butt. they just fall on their asses leaving you 2 or 3 free hits

Use vats and shot the legs. If you have companions or dogmeat, order them/it way ahead of you so that the ghouls attack him/her/it.

Also, if you enter an area, keep on pressing vats, it will highlight the ghouls that are on the ground.

Molotov cocktail work well on ghouls, Best if you have rank 2 in explosive perk.

They are not that op unless you count the Glowing One you might encounter near Drumlin Diner at level 5...

Ghouls are hard to kill because their attack is so frightening. The sight of a feral ghoul attacking you, dragging its head in the dirt as it charges, is disquieting, to say the least. The best way to fight them is to remember they can all be killed by bullets, like anything else. If it's dragging its head in the dirt while attacking, shoot the head in the dirt. Shotguns work wonders on ghouls and bugs. And, yeah, a little hit of jet beats the Hell out of being slaughtered and eaten by zombies.
