As for my favorite modded armor, that'd be Submersible Power Armor.
(Also, it's the Railroad Armored Coat.)
Fav regular armor is the Heavy combat armor, all black.
Fav modd armor right now is the NCR ranger armor.
I wear this under power armor.
Also Kellogg's outfit.
I never felt sexy in power armor. I ended up downloading some modded clothes which looked good on my female character although I can't remember what they were called (it's been a while since I played).
A different character looks sharp in the Robes of Atom's Devoted and a Battered Fedora (both ballistic weave, of course), with a Disciples cutlass rounding out the ensemble for face-stabbing goodness. Paired up with Cait in a baseball uniform, Diamond City guard armour (sans helmet), and, of course, a baseball bat.
I do like the look of the heavy Operators armour from Nuka World, but I haven't had a character for whom it was a good choice, since the stuff is so heavy.

For power armour I like the look of a T-60. It blend in when i move around the prydwen, I always wonder why no bos soldier comment anything when i move around with x-01.
Power armor: X-01 with jet pack, military paint to increase carry weight and explosive vents on the legs.
Eyeglasses
Shadow leather all legendary
+1strength/endu x2, +1int/cha, Autostim if under 25% health, +15% dmg res while stand still.
I rarely use Power armor -only in The glowing sea.

Power armor, a complete set above T-51, T-60 and X-01 are about even in terms of damage stopping. the X-01 has more HP meaning it breaks less, I could take on a gunner base and not need repairs afterwards like 30 damage on my parts of 210 HP.
the T-60 has Less Hp but is really easy to get. once the Fort hagen is complete the brotherhood shows up and launches patrols who get themselves killed leaving full sets of T-60 on the ground.
they also give you 2 or 3 complete suits as you do their campaign one just for boarding the prydwyn.
and there are legendary modifiers for T-60 pieces.
The T-51 I don't really care for per say but people like it because it just takes steel to repair like getting the aluminum and plastic or copper are a significant issue (just pick up the cans and TV/surgical trays you'll have plenty)
But on survival you'd be running back to base periodically anyways, so the repair function might have good use.
So in the base game what I'd suggest is a Set of X-01 fully kitted. with Explosive shielding and ...probably a jetpack.
in Survival I'd suggest probably a T-51 with military paint and the servos so I can have 14 strength so I can use it as a dump stat.
Underneath the armor we have two options.
I wore a suit of +1 CHA +1 INT armor pieces, so I had a few of those for +CHA so I'd leave my armor to have my barter suit on.
though the summer shorts look ridiculous.
if you want to defend yourself in survival mode outside of power armor.
Option I would go with is Sentinel prefix, a Ballistic weave torso and hat (Military fatigues and ....gonna say the one of the 4 hats, battered fedora is probably the nicest.)
and then some pieces of shadowed leather with deep pockets. or ultra light build.
deep pockets is +10 carry weight, x5 pieces so deep pockets will carry your leather armor.
ultra light build will provide bonus AP and be lighter so its easier to sneak in. but it will give you less weight to play around with.
you can stick regular pockets on without any ranks in armorer.
