Cryo-Gun in Vault/Dog Meat Won't Obey?

Can you no longer get the Cryo-gun by telling Dog Meat to fetch the item when it's nearby?? He's not doing anything and I want that gun.

Just get Cait, you can get the gun at like lv 7.

Tell dogmeat to stand as close as possible to the cyrogun, then tell it to fetch the gun.

It also helps if you had pick up everything nearby that is not nailed down so that dogmeat won't get confuse.

Due to an update (some time ago) Dogmeat can no longer pick up the Cryolater.

Just looked at the wiki, and it says this (On the Cryolater wiki page):
"This exploit is no longer possible, since Dogmeat has been modified so as not to enter the vault, but wait outside."

I just bought the game and got hm to grab it no problems yesterday.

That's strange, the way I did it was command Dogmeat to get into the little room it was in, shut the door and then command him to pick it up. Works for me

Wiki is WRONG, I litterally brought Dogmeat to vault 111 just now with no problem.

if it works I'm not surprised, but its cheating, and If I'm going to cheat, I could just console it in.

Cheats =/= Exploits.

Exploits =/= Cheats.

No one says "it's exploiting", that has another connotation. So yes, this is an exploit, but if you use it, you're still "cheating".

If you really have to get that cryolator,
Do this:
Target the container.
~
unlock
Enter
~

Retreive the cryolator.

OR
Simply just do it the hard way and level up your character to unlock it.

But anyway ...
If you just got the game, that means the patch to stop the Dogmeat exploit hasn't been installed as an update yet.
I don't know if you can count yourself as blessed, lucky or cursed.
But trust me on this, your game will update sooner or later and that exploit will be patched out unless you can prevent it and that might not be such a good idea.

I'll explain a little further.
If you're one of those who enjoys modding your game and you install those mods before that update gets put into your game, you may end up with a broken game. Then you'll have the most wonderful headache of running around like a chicken with your head cut off trying to figure out what went wrong with your game only to end up sterilizing your PC of all the mods you installed for the game.. then doing a complete uninstall and reinstall.

I guarantee you.

I installed the game from a shared Steam account my boyfriend and I have. He bought the game the day it came out ages ago. I'm able to get Dogmeat into the vault, however, and apparently the patch shouldn't let me do that? I don't usually do Mods for any game, really, haha. I probably should, but I don't.
