Clearable Locations?

anyone know what buildings are clearable and what arnt clearable. i cleared out the massechussets building thats right by swans pond but it doesnt come up as cleared but other places do.

Even though it says cleared, it will respawn. Most of the time the cleared locations are the objectives of the radiant quests.

Typically if the location does not show cleared then you missed some enemies. Buildings in downtown can be deceptive since they exterior cells like roofs and also basements that need to be cleared. Also some ghouls will not react if you are stealthing around and its easy to leave one alive.

Don't worry about it. Not every location has a 'cleared/not cleared' tag set so a lot of them will never come up as cleared. Its not like it makes any practical difference. Once everything is dead its dead until the next cell reset.

As I understand it, clearable locations will have a specific "boss" enemy (not necessarily anyone special or named, but one of the toughest enemy types in that location). If that enemy is dead, the location counts as cleared, even if everything else in it is still alive, though it's usually hard to get to them without fighting other things.

Locations without such a boss will never count as cleared or not.

also, a cell remains empty and cleared much longer in survival mode. USS Riptide has been cleared for hundreds of hours for me. Random encounter areas don't stay clear for long, but i think these are outside, and not in buildings.

hmm, my uss riptide respawns with same frequency as Back Bay Apparel. i.e. about 3 days.
[cos I kill bay group outside then the riptide dudes]
