Dirty water vs Purified Water survival mode : Does it matter?
my pet peve syndrom is high. I drank nothing but purified water. I'd get 20+ bottles and go ALL the way back to vault 111 just to fill them. But In survival that takes time and is getting VERY annoying. Whats the difference between dirty and purified? I understand Purified probably gives you more hydration but is it not much of a difference drinking dirty to purified? ALSO, is it worth crafting purified water? (takes 3 dirty water to make 1 purified).

Thanks for your responses.

Dirty water is radiated and you also have a chance to catch Illness from it.

No need to run back to vault for this. Just add a water pump in to your settlement. Groundwater is not polluted, like lakes, rivers and seashores are. You can fill your bottles directly from that, by clicking R with empty bottles in your inventory.

If you have a settlement going on, then all extra purified water is stored in to workshop. You can get water from there as well.

Haha I do this way too many times. I'll ask the question then investigate further and found out about the pumps. Thank you for your answer tho really appreciate it!!

Honestly in survival long run you should be saving your bottles to collect dirty water since you need that for cooking foods like noodle cup and vegtable soup that both feed and hydrate you and once you set up a couple settlements as long as you build atleast one purifier worth of excess water they'll give you more than enough purified water.

Elsewise yeah just drink purified so you don't risk illness.

Sort of sad though they didn't let you craft other hyrdrating drinks though like maybe combining mut fruit and melons into a fruit juice, adding herbs to water to make teas to name a couple.

Though thats kind of true for the whole cooking system since its very wierd when brahmin are the main domesticated herd animal left all you can do is cook the steaks, youd think atleast theired be some spiced recipies, meat loaf, savory pie and stew.

Drink purified water, use Dirty water to make veggie soup. I typically use all my bottles to get Dirty water since Veggie Soup not only adds HP but also quenches your thirst and provides some rad resistance. It's the best food in the game for survival.

this
Also, you need to drink 2 dirty water to restore the same amount of hydration as one purified water, so it's also more effecient. Dirty water is best reserved for cooking/emergencies.

Its a shame that in the Workshop DLC They didn't add in the Option to Produce Glass bottles/Nuka Bottles.

Speaking of which: When you drink a nuka cola, what happens to the bottle after you drink it? You should be able to use it to scoop up some dirty water. If the bottle magically disappears every time you drink a nuka cola, why are we always finding empty nuka cola bottles just sitting there?

The good thing about survival mode is you can fill bottles to get dirty water. Too bad you can only do that in survival mode.
A 7 year old thread did not need to be necroed to make this point.

(Which is already made multiple times in the thread)
