You can die while fixing your power armor in Survival Mode...really,Bethesda?
My first run in this game on Survival Mode (IMO only way to enjoy this awful fallout game in series) and when I trying to upgrade my power armor my character takes damage because of overweight...I guess all power armor units place in my inventory. I can carry only about 100 units, while 95 already used by other stuff. Any way to fix this without mods? Did they even played on this mode before release this game? I don't think so...and I can understand that, because target audience of this game is casual players who love shooting games.

I've never taken damage from being overencumbered. It's probably negated by a perk but i don't know what one/s that would do. The other way would be either to increase carry weight or hold less items.
Also: Fallout 4's Survival mode far excedes NV's 'hardcore' mode.
Edit: And is a better game in general.

Drop your clothes, your guns, ammo, food, and water. You won't take damage. When you're done, pick them all up, and put them back on.

While playing on Survival Mode your health drops if you overencumbered, also your limbs can be damaged if you stay in overweight too long. Find similar thread with workaround on Bethesda forums [community.bethesda.net]. But, to drop everything and then pick up again is bad way to solve developers mistakes. So, I guess there is no better workaround.
BTW, talking about NV's hardcore, there was a "primary needs meter" in character info that shows how much time you have before negative effects start, in fallout 4 survival mode there is no such thing...so only way to know when you going to be effect by negative perk is atm when you got it...can't see any "exceeds" in that.

what do you think they should have done?

It wasn't a 'mistake', they made it intentionally to see if people could actually play Survival without Ragequitting due to how hard it is.
I don't think there was. Stuff just kind of showed up which was so easily fixed it was a waste of time.

Strong Back rank 4 or 5 negates overencumberence damage.

I thought it would be Strong Back. Seeing as i already had it maxed (at the time, before the next level was added) i didn't know what perk it was that did it.

Ah nice, i thought i coud at least hinder the leg crippling from overcumberense with Adamatium Skeleton Rank 3, but funnily Overcumberance Leg crippling dont counts as Limb dmg?????

Survival Mode its not hard at all, its easy to play if you know what you doing. Just think about topic more: you repair your power armor, thinking about what you need to install and etc, while your character's HP drops in background. It's not mistake you say? So why when I using workshop to build in Sanctuary my HP not drops down? You should take damage too in that case.

And for some strange reason Adamantium Skeleton does nothing of this sort and you can still become crippled (which is rather oxymoronic to me).

I don't. I have strong back and Adamantium Skeleton as well as 3 seperate HP regen perks. I take 0 damage at all times unless i'm fighting enemies.

With a high enough Strong Back you cease taking damage from being overencumbered. I believe you also take no damage from being overencumbered if you are in power armor. If you really want to carry a lot of stuff bring a companion along. Robots can hold a lot of stuff. If you take Dogmeat you can gain 100 extra carry weight and still have Dogmeat carry stuff. Survival was meant for metagamers as opposed to those looking for a more immersive game.

u get dmg from overcumberence in PA u only dont get disadvantge from the leg crippling (they still cripple, but u dont draw a leg behind and can still jump and change from stand to crouch and vise versa) and to make it more stupid medical injector from PA breastplate dont kicks in when overcumbrance dmg brings u under 20%. other way around the injector kicks in when u jump from high ground, get no dmg from the fall thnx to the PA servos, but the injector reacts to u hp beeing under 20%......
