Codsworth or Dogmeat

I still havent gotten to diamond city, i can have Codsworth as a companion or stay with Dogmeat, wich should i choose?

Codsworth is a better fighter, can carry far more and will give you a purified water once a day when you talk to him, he's the better choice unless you use the Lone Wanderer perk which doesn't count dogmeat as a companion.
If you playing on survival however be aware that you need robot repair kits to heal codsworth if he goes down.

Codsworth is annoying...surviving the wastes with your trusted canine sidekick is a much better story to immerse yourself in, especially in the early days of your playthrough....imo

assuming you want to use mods, why not both? There's a mod that enables you to have dogmeat + one companion...turns out that was the initial plan, but beth scrapped it late into it for some reason (there's even dialogue your companions say when you heal dogmeat...even ADA says something).

Codsworth is better, especially on survival when you may or may not need someone to tank ghouls for you. Doggo just gets in your way 2/3 of the time, but you can have him and still use the very overpowered Lone Wanderer perk.

I like Dogmeat alot with his pack mods and goggles. That being said when you start modding Codsworth into a 2 story tall death machien from hell and still have that voive its just gold lol.

I hate the fact that dogmeat always decides to sit in front of me, when I'm sniping.

ALWAYS choose any other companion > Dogmeat. You literally don't progress at all with just Dogmeat as a companion. Followers at max affinity give you crazy good perks. Dogmeat doesnt give you squat, maybe apart from random loot he might find for you

However he doesn't judge either .... and as mentioned before with the lone wanderer perk and the special perks for dogmeat he can be a very powerful companion
