Random Helicopter Crashed

I had just finished scrapping everything out of Sanctuary (I'm level 19, so no, I am not just beginning) and I heard a helicopter sound fly by very fast. I looked into the sky and I saw a trail of smoke. I'm in Cambridge right now because it appeared it headed that way but I cannot find it anywhere. Does anyone know what it is and where I could find it?

Its a vertibird crash. They happen occasionally. Good source of power armor pieces. Just gotta look for it.

Look for it east of the Oberland Station. I don't want to spoil what it is, others will probably do so below.

I don't know if you are aware of this but did you know the pilot actually gets thrown out? I always assumed the pilot and vertibird were classed as one object until one day I saw the pilot being flung out and I followed it. It usually never lands where the vertibird crashes.

Yeah I know. The explosion tends to send bits and pieces of everyone everywhere. Turns out he wasnt referring to a vertibird anyway. Hundreds of hours playing and I never had that particular random occurance despite knowing it exists

That's weird. I've played through the game about 7 times and it's appeared every time. The weapon is useless imo so you're not missing out on anything.
