Something I've Never Seen Before

In over 5,000 hours playing this game; this is a first. I've just killed Kellog, and the BOS has just shown up. I'm trekking back toward one of my settlements in a 2/3 set of newly acquired T-60 power armor. Up ahead I see a landed vertibird, but there's something wierd aboutit.

It's letting off radiation for one thing, and, Hey, that's not a BOS member climbing into it. It's a damn Gunner. Sure enough the expletive deleted takes off in the vertibird and decides to strafe me. I am thankful that I have my 80 shot assault rifle on me. The verti absorbs over 60 shots; then the suicidal pilot tries to crash it on me.

He comes close. I'm down to 10% of my hit points, glad I was in partial power armor anyway. That's the first timeI've ever seen Gunners commandeer a BOS vertibird.

There's always something new in this game!

Only seen this once - west of Graygarden. I wasn't a BoS enemy so I wondered why the damned thing was strafing me. I think Mutants at the water plant started shooting at it too.

It was back 2 years ago, never saw it again.

I happened upon those gunners and the vertibird.
I couldn't convince them to give it up.
So I convinced them to die.

I've seen it many times.
Each time they fight against the brotherhood at Weston water treatment plant.
They steal the Vertibird from the Brotherhood.
I think it is a kind of randomencounter which is always in the same place.

It takes place at the Water Treatment Plant (Yes, that is west of Greygarden). Unfortunately the Gunner Pilot didn't turn of the Vertibird AI which is programed to crash into the Lone Wanderer/Survivor/Whatever.

A better question is. Why can Gunners Steal Vertibirds and we can't.

I only seen once, Blake's Funeral with Preacher and settlers.

They're usually randomly placed in the world, but they make their rounds at certain places too

someone needs to make a mod where you can pilot your own vertibird or buy one and have an infinite signal receptor or something (That way no more having to use the signal grenades in survival)

Yep. Although I wish it was "Buy Vertibird with Caps" instead of "Build Vertibird", exactly.

Yeah, those too. Was funny. They were near Vault 111 and killed nearby raiders before the funeral.

You can find this event after the BOS show up near the Weston Water Treatement facility.
