"You lack the requirements to make this item"
I was trying to craft a custom headlamp for my power armor, and it said that i lacked the requirements to craft it, even though i have the perk required and the materials required. How do i fix this cancer?

Sometimes all the materials needed are more than the window shows and you can scroll down. Other than that I can't think of a reason, are you using mods?

You can't, that's why cancer still kills people.

Well...that's probably the cause

And I'm going to necro-post, since I found the real solution to this problem. It doesn't have to do with perks, glitches or mods (for me at least), it's just bethesda sucking.

It has to do with quest items that are junk, which count toward the material counter but can't be scrapped. Quest items which are categorized as "junk" will still show up on the materials counter, but not allow themselves to be scrapped in crafting, even if they don't appear on the quest log yet.

I was trying to put a suppressor on my submachine gun while doing the "Last Voyage of the U.S.S. Constitution" quest. It showed having all checked out, but it would not craft:

In component view (default C), the quest item "FLL3 Turbopump Bearings" shows as being able to scrap to aluminum, the problem being that I need it for the quest, even though it hasn't shown up on my log yet:

Lo and behold, when I eventually reach a checkpoint where I'm supposed to use the item in the quest, everything goes back to normal, showing that I only had 2/3 aluminum to start with.

So if something's not crafting, check for quest items.

Thank you so much grittles. Just had this problem, and your solution fixed it!

By the way, it was one of the "RFID" devices for a Railroad quest. One of the components in that item is fiberglass, which the game made me think I had enough of, but didn't.

Just wanted you to know your post helped me, thanks again!

I am having this issue with trying to build upgrades for righteous authority. I am doing the Valentine Quest atm-should I just remove all quest items from my inventory?

Or go to your home bench where you have most materials, rather than what you carry on you.

Console command- tgm

What does tgm do?

It stands for ToggleGodMod. And I imagine that it doesn't consume components while crafting.

Nice workaround for all crafting... We don't need no stinking components...

I am using mods as well and having issues with it saying i dont have enough components. I tried your tgm idea and it still says the same thing.
