No "sweet spot" while lockpicking. [SOLVED]
I have a problem with trying to pick locks. No mater what position I put the bobby pin I can't find the sweet spot to unlock it, even with novice locks. I've looked all over for a fix but found nothing. It seems like I'm the only person having this problem. I also tried the “Easy Lockpicking” mod but that didn't work either. I don't want to use the “Unlock” command every time I need to pick a lock, so if anyone knows how to fix this please let me know.

I only use W to move the bobby pin. Move your mouse very slowly in one direction and tap W as you do it. If the bobby pin doesn't move, go in the other direction til it does. The closer your are to picking it the farther the bobby pin will turn. It's pretty simple when you get the hang of it.
I dont think you understand. The lock never turns no matter where I move the bobby pin.
try straight up .. the lock will open sometimes when in the starting position

Does it try to turn when you press the appropriate key (causing the lock to rattle, and possibly break the bobby pin), or does it just not even try to turn?

Though in either case, you might want to see if you've got any mods installed that could be affecting it.
I made a video demonstrating the problem.

I'm surprised the pick didn't break.
console, type 'getav 001f3a48' and report back with the value.

That's the 'LGND_LockPickSweetSpot' variable.
DouglasGrave, the pick didnt break because I have level 4 Locksmith.
mfree, I entered what you said to in the console and there was no value, it was blank.

The possibility had crossed my mind, which is why I mentioned it. So this would be a recent problem, then, having previously picked many locks without any difficulty?

What have you changed recently? Any new mods or alterations? Anything completed that might similarly trigger a change?

I think you have the wrong variable there; that's the one for "LGND_ArmorDisarm".

Try "getav 001F3CAB" instead.
I don't recall changing anything recently. Yes, this problem is new, had it for a couple days now. Also, I entered your command as well and it was also blank.
I can't say I was expecting anything different with the Actor Value, but it was worth checking. From the positioning and name, that AV is probably used for Safecracker's armour (the legendary armour effect), and that could feasibly have had some effect.

I'd still go back and check you mod list to see if anyone mentions a similar bug. If it's a problem no-one else has encountered in general play of the basic game, there's a higher chance for it to be some weird mod interaction.

Other than the lockpicking being directly affected, I suppose there could also be something with Perception (which affects the lockpicking sweet spot, if I remember correctly), so you could look into that as well.
Now that you mention it, I recently aquired a synth left arm with Safecracker. When I took it off I could pick the lock! Kinda funny how Safecracker actually made it impossible to crack safes. I guess I found a rare bug in the game? Anyway, thanks for the help, I appreciate it! :)
Weird. I wonder what was happening "under the hood" to cause that. I can't say I've ever had that happen with Safecracker's armour pieces.
Ahh feck, copy-pasta'd the wrong line.

You must be using the same AV list as me; in mine, it's the number right above.
