New Type Radio Beacon
Been a while since I played FO4 and some things have changed. The one I noticed 1st was the radio beacon with it's rotating antenna. Attracts settlers. Except it doesn't. Because it won't activate because it needs power.

But there's no where to hook up the power like there was on the old style radio tower and the description says you don't need to hook up wires.

So what's the deal? Startedf fresh game after not playing for 9 months and now find I cannot attract settlers to a settlement because of something as silly as getting power to the radio beacon!!!

The recruitment beacon must have power. Place a generator, then a pylon. Wire the generator to the pylon. Place a recruitment beacon near the pylon and wire the beacon to the pylon. You now have a powered recruitment beacon.

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately hooking the wire from the generator to the pylon is a no brainer. The issue there is no where on the beacon to hook up the wire from the pylon to the beacon.?????? At least I cannot find the spot to do it.

Ah, haven't hooked one up for a while. I think it's about 7 feet or so from the bottom of the beacon. Just highlight the beacon first and run the wire from it back to the pylon.

There's a small connector way at the top of the pylon.

Just need to be close and it will snap to the tap itself.

Or it's one of the mods.....use the wi-fi power conduits....screen shot would help

also, in some mods there is a decoration one, no effect, and an actual beacon.

ya don't need the pylon, just wire the generator direct to the beacon tower

That's my altimers at work. I haven't used the vanilla generators or any pylons for longer than I can remember. A friend of mine sent me 3 mods he made that were never published. One is a switch box generator that provides 100 power and mounts to almost anything. I place them where they are in reach of passive power items[no wires] and when I have to hardwire an item, I just run a wire directly from the switch box generator to the item needing power. No pylons or conduits needed.

Thanks guys...
Good advice all.

Turns out it was just me - best Homer Simpson impression - DOH!
Unbeknonst to me one of the mods I have added a 2nd type of Radio tower asset and that's the one I was trying to use. When I selected the other one - the original that I was used to - then wiring it up was a piece of cake.

Again - thanks to you all.

btw is there a difference between the original one and the new ones? Like increased chances of attracting settlers?

Noticed it a while ago as well :p

Not that I know of, researched that a little bit, it seems to be all cosmetic.

Except with the new one there is no where to hook up the power but the game insists that you do so.

One poster mentioned wi-fi terminal - don't know whether or not he was kidding - probably not - and he implied that's what was needed to make it work.
