Need help with spawning in a workbench and building anywhere
So here is what I do

open console
type " player.placeatme c1aeb " ( without quotation marks )

when the bench spawns i hold " V " which is the workshop button for me and nothing happens

so i walk up to the bench and press " E " and the message in the top left says " you must kill all enemies in the area " but thats just it there are no enemies near me.

i dont want to download any mods, can someone please tell me what they think is happening and how come this works for everyone and not me?

I recieved the message "" you must kill all enemies in the area " but thats just it there are no enemies near me."" The problem for me was { One enemy was frozen in a wall and just the barrel of the weapon was moving around........ Shot the hell out of the wall and part of a head fell out.

Good luck, finding the one that you have missed..... I have had about four of those, as well as, enemies spawning inside some of the foundations that I have made. The game can be a pain in the butt at times. :steamsad:
well i know its not an emeny cause when i spawn the workbench I use the kill all command to kill everything around me and it still says that anyways

why don't you want to load mods? Conquest works great for adding settlements anywhere

Guess I do not understand { spawn the workbench...and using a kill command }. Must be, an age thing, after all am an Old Man.......Lots of time spent looking for junk to build things, about 990 hours so far.

You can't use a workbench outside of a settlement without making .ini tweaks and a mod to let you do that.
you can, you have to type tgm in the console, after you placed the workbench
typing tgm didnt makie the workbench work

No, but you *do* have to be in god mode to make holding 'V' work.
Also you will have to explore the new settlement bounds on your own because you won't have the colored markers.

When you get this to work you will have a brand new game to add to your exploring. Good luck.

Forget clicking on the workbench! Be in God Mode (tgm) and use the 'V' to get into build mode. If that does not work for you I am out of advise. It works for me and adds a great deal to the exploration of the game map.

Conquest Mod works to allow you to buld settlements anywhere you want but I recently disabled it because I started getting CTD's when I entered my Lexington settlement, and I think it was causing other issues, but I can't confirm those...Since disabling the mod, I've had less issues.....I guess it hasn't been updated since before the DLC's so I think that was the issue, I started Nuka world, and my playthrough started having issues, even back in the commonwealth

Also, stores and supply lines don't work right in your mod settlements in conquest mod....the provisioners only connect one mod settlement to one mod settlement, and don't share over the whole network.....Most stores don't work, bar and clinics do I believe.....although none of the settlers would ever drink at my lexington bar so there might be issues there too

OK I have one other thought, try other locations using a clean save not contaminated by previous c1eab failed attempts. Also Vladimir Vega's posts have reminded me that I have yet to install or even try to install a mod. Perhaps you (Don) have a mod that has been installed and not properly removed?
