Died from touching a car?
there were no enemies I was at full health no radiation.

I touched a parked car and died losing at least 45 minutes of progress.

WTF

sounds like screwed up physics or the car exploded.
one is an issue of the ancient game engine which just gets worse the higher you go above 60 fps, the other is a feature cause 1 car accident would have the same effect as a nuclear war due to the chain reaction.

Tinfoil hat time - the great war never happend it was just a car crash that was missinterpreted.

nope the car did not explode. when cars explode theres a little on screen bright red car icon that points to it.

in this case there was no on screen iminate explosion icon.

Yep happened to me three times in survival , so far 3 deaths by fat man's, 3 deaths by glitchy cars, and 1 by a bottle cap mine through a wall. My recommendation, stay away from cars :/

I've also died from not being able to shoot things at point blank range.

landmines in the celing (no joke I saw it before I did and I think I have a screencap somewhere)

Landmines spawning in areas I just walked through no less then 5 minutes ago

and my personal favourite touching a waste paper bin and getting launched to the celing of the world bouncing off that and dying.

Yeah, this can happen, especially at full speed against the moveable ones that explode. Havoc system related somehow. I was once testing the speed cheat out, every time I hit one of those cars I died instantly.

Against statics you're fine, but if it moves like a random tire there's a chance the havoc will push back and lights out.

this is why we don't use outdated engiens.

accept codding a decent phsiyics engien would cost time and money. and Bethesda just can't spare either of those cuz they gotta push them funkopop's!

They like to put mines next to cars. Then the cars explode, double damage.

if it helps making you more depressed the game physics is tied to the FPS, the more fps the quicker everything happens the less fps the slower everything happens.

didn't we figure out how to solve that problem back in the 1990's? where our FPS didn't effect our game's speed so that we could still play those games in the future with out having worry about having 90000 FPS and breaking the game

It's Havok. When a glitch occurs a havok-enabled object can be 'stuck' and move to it's final position when touched or interfered with. You can see it all the time with flying skeletons and such.

Trouble is, when it happens with a car it'll want to fall level, and it's big/heavy enough that if it's falling your way, it intrudes into your collision space with basically infinite "force".

Touching that car, causing it to 'enable' and move, even imperceptibly, ends up the same as reaching the ground after falling from the Mass Fusion building. *splat*.

Mine is just fatmans n glitchy cars, I play the game at 120 fps when I'm not streaming at max, 70 if I am, over all my only complaint is glitchy cars, I never had an issue with the shooting mechanics, could just be your aim because mine is god like good.

It can be untied. Just set:

[General]
iFPSClamp=58

It should be 58 and no less no more according to info on Bethesda.net.

Yeah, much like everyone said, it's a problem with Havok. I remember in Skyrim every time I would go into a cave and walk over an item like a skull, I would take damage. Seeing it happen in FO4 was quite the flashback.

oh i remember that fights through hordes of undead and necromancers
steps on skull
watch skull launch through character as if fired from a railgun
last save 3 hours back due to crashing autosaves...
