Head disappears after getting off vertibird

I don't know why, but every time I dismount a vertibird, including the scripted one from Cambridge to the Prydwen, my head becomes invisible yet all my headwear is still there. I tried reloading a previous save, still happens, and I don't have any mods which could affect player models. The only current fix I have is to open the looks menu and recreate my character every time, but this is really tedious given that I'm using vertibirds all the time in my survival playthrough. Any advice for me?

Just quick save and then reload it, that should fix it....Atleast it did for me :P

This doesnt work in Survival Mode tho...

Yeah, sadly not. It might work if I reload a bed save, but that's not really possible if I'm using vertibirds a lot :(

Are you running any chracter looks (not models, just apperance) mods? It may be a conflict related to that...

I barely have any mods, but the only one I can think of that might have an effect is Automatically Lowered Weapons, even though that only affects first person weapon animations. my other mods are just a couple of item additions (campsites, vertibird beacons) and a settler AI rework.

Kinda strange you aren't running any character looks mods and are getting this, I have seen this on a couple play throughs but it was because of a load order issue.

Yeah, if only running vanilla character textures and models, this bug makes little sense...

A missing head would indicate it is looking for a texture or model that it can't find...

Just did a google search on this try:

player.setav 0000036c 100
player.setav 00000311 0

Judging from http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_4_console_commands the first should restore head condition, and the second should remove blindness (which I don't know that the game will assign to you, but is not entirely unconceivable if it's penalizing you for head loss).

Thank you very much for your research, but it seems like the Automatically Lowered Weapons mod was causing it - after uninstalling it my head no longer disappeared upon dismounting a vertibird. Will check tomorrow that it is definitely fixed and not just a coincidence. I have absolutely no clue why it would cause this though!

If that mod IS causing the issue then make sure to tell the mod maker about it, so that he can look into the issue.... ;)

Np Mafyu you can try Button Lowered Weapons.......that is the one I use and I have never had an issue with it.

Thank you, I will try that one, although it's not the end of the world if I can't have lowered weapons. :)
