Settlements. Build Industrial Water Purifiers, sell the water. Rake in the caps.

^ pretty much this.

Can get >3200 water in sanctuary, which will result in ~2400 in your workshop/day.
At max sell price they sell for 16, so that is 38400 caps/day from 1 settlement...

Note that water will not accumulate, so you much move it out of your workshop every time it spawns.
Water spawns at midnight, must pass something like 8 real time minutes and 24 hours of game time before it can spawn again.
(You can NOT just sleep for 24 hours, get water, repeat...)

Can't get master hacking at starting levels though :P
Bridgeway Trust is the best place to farm gold for upgrading gatling lasers and gauss rifles though...

Every youtube video said to do the water purifier thing. So right away I built two large purifiers which is suppose to yield you 40 per day (80 for both). They weren't producing anywhere near waht they are saying. Then I looked on the Fallout wiki. This is what it says "A settlement will stop producing purified water if there are more than 5 drinkable items (including dirty water and alcohol) in the workbench, plus 1 for every 4 settlers. This extremely low cap is the reason water seems to only be produced after the player takes all the purified water from the workbench."
The best way to make money is to grow melons and sell them at Abernathe Farms. The melons grow even when you fast travel. I have been playing for about 60 hours and have probably made 10 times as much from melons than from water.

the water thing but also selling chems you will get tons. you only need a handfull of stimpacks and radaway so sell all other chems and huge chuks of stimpacks and rad away. also just pick up anything you can and sell it you should not have any issues doing anything in this game its to poorly made for that.

That's not even remotely true. With only a half dozen purifiers I rake in ~200 bottles a day. !3 ish population.

what I did was like build shops and then leave and come back later and then just take the money out of the workstation.

Never did that water purifier thing except to keep people from complaining that they were thirsty.

oh yeah making jet and selling that, I did that at first. It gets you experience as well. It got tiring though so I just got addicted to it instead.

Type in console: player.additem 0000000f XXX

Replace XXX with the amount of caps you'd like.

:^)

The best option I think is to just play the game. There are very few things worth purchasing with caps. I really only spend caps to buy scrap for my Settlements, and I pick up so much crap along the way that I always still manage to make money even when buying out all the Scrap in a tier 4 trader.

I am glad someone brought this to my attention. I guess my game is bugged. I have played 34 in game days and have only produced 18. On reddit it says if it is bugged you have to empty your workbench in order to start producing more water.

I just accumulate all the legendary weapons and armor that I can't scrap and sell them. Those and grenades, meat I don't use, and other consumables.

Go for a stroll in the Glowing Sea, kill all the radscorpions and deathclaws that you can, and get all their meat. Radscorpion eggs and meat and deathclaw meat sells for a lot of money.

Queen Mirelurk steaks and Deathclaw Steaks must be the most delicious things ever according to the cost.

Like someone said, pick up everything you can carry and use it all on a trade vedor to get what you need, then sell untill he's broke.

They must be. I wish food types had more of an impact on playing, so maybe I wouldn't sell them all.
