Let's Talk: Nick Valentine Romance
I'm just curious and this is going to lead into the logic and programming of how Synths work, but to start things off why do you guys think Nick isn't a romance option in the vanillia game? You need mods to do it. Why was that choice made? Surely its not because he's a Synth, other Synths can be romanced.

What's your opinion as to why he's not a romance option?

Another question to consider: Do you guys even think he's capiable of love? Why or why not?

DISCUSS!

(I'll edit with my own opinion later on, I want to hear your ideas)

I personally was upset I couldn't kill him after a certain point in the story.

But he definately seems to develop a rapport with the pc, so I don't know why he isn't a romance option but another artifiicial companion can be.

He's got his sweetheart at his office. Why would he need another? He's already falling apart.

Maybe he's just not interested in the PC?

While I like Ellie and her and Nick go together quite well, It's not spesfically stated in game that they are in a relationship. If anything all you get from their interactions is that they are good friends.

Not all folks need a wedding to be happy together.

Could be, my only arugment is that you seem to be able to build interest with all companions, so why a select few, Nick included, are not romancable still is questionable, but yes your response does work. Maybe the non-romancable companions are just not interested.

I didn't imply anything about a wedding or anything, I just said there's not the faintest hint of them being in any kind of relationship aside from a strong friendship. The only drive is that I do personally think at sometimes Ellie might have a small crush for him, but still it seems that aside they are still only at a good friend level.

What I meant is that not everyone who's in a relationship likes to make an announcement about it. That's why people like doing weddings, but not everyone is like that.

Oh, I see. But still, you'd think you'd just pick up on it based on their interactions, they don't have to announce it to indicate they are in a relationship. Unless they have a very secertive under wraps realtionship and they really dont want people to know about it for various reasons. I mean maybe Ellie's a bit embarssied to have a thing going with the local Synth? Lmao.

I think it's fair to say that when a woman is in relationship with a Synth, one who is obviously a Synth, and in a town where people are all extremely paranoid, then it's pretty likely they keep it to themselves.

I'm not exactly sure I should get into this subject, but this is all I'm going to say ...
If Nick had anything to do with a lady (since his fiance` Jennifer Land's death) it's that lady in Memory Den who wears the red dress. But the way he speaks with her is flirtatious talk and cannot be concluded they had anything more than a friendship.

This is likely true because he prefers Mac.

Sorry...had to lol

There could be an aspect of game mechanics to it. Companions with romance options grant you Lover's Embrace when you sleep, and it may just not make sense for the player to be getting physically intimate with Nick, even if there was a strong romantic bond. It would be hard to see anyone getting a decent rest alongside his heavily-damaged robotic body.

But Nick looks like he runs on Windows 95

Nick, being housed in a Gen2 synth, is not "equipped" for that particular entertainment purpose.
