How to get high frames without game looking bad?
I would really like to play Fallout 4 with the game not looking like total crap and with good frames, is there any mods that can help gain alot of frames with small differences?

Thank you very much, I am not sure if it is just me but Fo4 seems like you need a really beefy pc to run

You do in some places, the main map city areas and a few other places are heavy on framerate because of the Godrays and Shadow Distance, as others have discovered in other threads this game is also more memory performance demanding, not just GPU/CPU like most games

I don't see those as insignificant, what that mod is doing is removing the Tessellation effect of DX11

Don't shoot me but you might get rid of the stuttering by capping your frame rate to 30. In this game I don't notice a difference between 30 and 60 fps but the stuttering between the two is a big difference. Might just be me but whatever works.

I set it to 30 before in past also. As well as other games. Helped keep my system cooler also.

In order to get high FPS even in cities. use this mod:
http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/1822/?
The mod lowers shadow distance if FPS drops lower than the targetet FPS.
Rememer to set the target FPS to 60 in the mod .ini file.

I use MSI afterburner to cap my frame rate.

Put the game in Borderless Windowed to help with the stuttering, and install Shadow Boost to help with the framedrops in downtown.

Also a low stable frame rate is better than a potentially unstable high frame rate. For me at least.

It is strange though because last year when I played it was fine on or above 60fps but now since the last up I get that horrible stuttering.

A couple of mods you can try:

Shadow Boost - dynamically adjusts shadow distance to keep fp/s up.
Optimized Vanilla Textures (OVT) - reduces texture size and thus memory usage with little to no loss in visual quality.
Faraway Area Reform (FAR) - produces (subjectively) better looking distant objects while reducing texture memory.
Bilago's Fallout 4 Launcher - allows to tweak many game parameters in detail and can start the game with a higher task priority.

Also start with using GeForce Experience and let it optimize the game settings for you.

Disable unnecessary Windows services (see here for example: http://www.blackviper.com/service-configurations/black-vipers-windows-10-service-configurations/)

Remove any unnecessary start and background software (press Windows-Key+R and enter "msconfig" and see the tab "Services" for all the little things that get started).

Set your PC's power management to High Performance.

That's just some of the things you can do.

I've played in full screen and borderless windowed and still got stuttering. I also lower the shadow settings.

My stuttering has gone now. Been gradually tweaking my setup with the configuration tool.
