Thread for Power Armor garages.
Showcase structures you've built for the purpose of storing Power Armor sets. Please include a count of how many frame slots you have, and what settlement the structure was/is standing at. I got the idea for this thread because I was building a third Power Armor garage structure today, because the previous two structures I have moved out of thanks to insufficient space for the frames.

First building:

The first building I made was a simple shack with two open sides designed to simply throw a roof over the Power Armor frames so they wouldn't have to stand outside in the rain. It's nothing elegant but it got the job done while I lived there. You can still see the toolboxes and cabinets from when I actually lived at this location and also needed storage containers for my items. After moving away I never felt the need to tear the structure down or scrap it, so it's been sitting in Sanctuary ever since, as a monument to another time.

An interior view. While most other Power Armor garages have a Power Armor crafting station for every frame in it, I preferred to go for compacted space and low resource consumption, resulting in structures like these. I prefer to use this type of shack wall as well because it makes a perfect parking spot for Power Armor frames, and has enough space behind it so you can run between them and reach the one you want. In the background you can see the default Power Armor station that I used for customizing armors while I lived here.

Total frame capacity: 16.

Location: Sanctuary Hills.

Second building:

DISCLAIMER: All pictures of the second building were taken during the process of building the third one, so the structure may appear incomplete or damaged. I kept a save around of it if you would like better pictures.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=869473500

The second building built upon the design of the first, acting as an extended version of the first shack that added a second floor as well as small slots next to the door for a generator and a trunk for spare Power Armor parts and Fusion Cores. These little compartments are not pictured. The whole building also has some turrets for defense and a balcony that used to have a Weapons Workbench.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=869474147

Here is the interior of the building, complete with most of my Power Armor frames I am currently in possession of. Not pictured here is the Power Armor station in the opposite end, where the single Power Armor frame is standing, because I had already moved it to the incomplete third building by this time. This picture demonstrates the excellent Power Armor parking applications of those particular metallic wall sections, and also shows the entire first floor of the building.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=869477760

A third picture that shows the second floor of the structure, designed as a narrow hallway or corridor for storage space and rows of Steamer Trunks, for whenever they would be needed. This picture also shows the additional available space in the top for extra frames if necessary, but by then I had already begun building the third structure. Which by the way, is in the background on the left.

Total frame capacity: 26. Extra space available on the second floor if absolutely necessary.

Location: Starlight Drive-In.

BoS Armor Building:

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=869478478

Now this tiny building was designed as another second structure where I could store both my Brotherhood of Steel collection, (Those uniforms and lazor guns man) and where I could store my Power Armor sets that were related to the Brotherhood of Steel. Now in the vanilla game there are only three different Brotherhood of Steel paintjobs for the T-60 Power Armor, but I'm actually running the Brotherhood of Steel Power Armor Overhaul[www.nexusmods.com] mod, which not only creates a new paint set for every single rank of the Brotherhood of Steel, but also carries it over to the T-45, T-51, and X-01. With so many different Brotherhood of Steel Power Armor combinations that I wanted to collect, and so little space in the longhouse structure, I needed a second, smaller building dedicated to just the BPAO mod's additions. The result was this.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=869479830

This second image shows just how large the building actually is, this is certifiably a skyscraper. The building is nine floors tall and is also at the height limit for Starlight Drive-In, and it does well to showcase the Brotherhood power armor sets. My design idea here was to put each frame on the edge of a completely open side so if I needed it I could just walk out of the building and be on the surface immediately, since Power Armor frames grant fall damage immunity. Essentially, I used gravity as a very speedy one-way elevator for the frames. The armors are also sorted by rank, with lowest on bottom and highest on top. The row of four sets near the top is Rank 7: Paladin, and the single T-45 on the ground floor is an Initiate's armor. I never completed the collection and filled up this building yet, but I don't think I'll need it for much longer.

Total frame capacity: 32.

Location: Starlight Drive-In.

Third building:

I was quickly running out of space in the second longhouse structure and I needed a replacement, and the result was this monolith of a structure.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=869480825

This image encompasses the entire skyscraper, showing just how large it is. It combines elements from all three previous structures to create what I believe is the ultimate Power Armor garage, at least in terms of performance and frame space. Ignore the sets of Power Armor littered on the ground, that was me having to move all of the frames I had collected out of the second building, so I could tear it down and replace it with this one.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=869481847

The first side of the ground floor of the Power Armor skyscraper. I have decided to move all crafting benches and storage containers to the ground floor, as well as the fast travel point, for easy access to the door if I need to exit the structure and easy access to all my storage points. I contemplated putting my house area on the top floor, but that resulted in a long response time if something was happening on the ground, and since there's a bridge just southeast of the drive-in that gets a lot of random encounters, I couldn't have that. You can also see the Power Armor station in this picture.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=869482596

The second corner of the interior. It's rather barren with nothing special at the moment, but it's where I'm going to put the bulk of my storage containers, if not around the Power Armor station. You can also see the generator, but we're getting to that.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=869483152

Here you can see the power grid of the building. The generator is hooked up to a switch, which is hooked up to a conduit, which is in turn hooked up to another conduit, which in turn runs the wire in a straight line up to the top floor and provides an electricty radius for two lightbulbs per floor, on either side. The building's interior is well-lit and one can easily see the Power Armor sets inside, if there were any.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=869483732

An image of the staircase side, showing additional lightbulbs. Like I said, each floor is well-lit.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=869484290

And now my fellow Fallout 4 players, the main attraction. The main interior of the building is completely open and hollow for easy Power Armor movement down to the surface, and the staircase is moved to the back. My design plan here was to take the same shack design from the longhouse and Sanctuary shack, and stack them on top of each other without any roof tiles, in the same manner as the BoS armor building. Not only would this reduce the ground space necessary for the building, (I plan to put a city in the drive-in and I don't want my longhouse taking up an entire potential district,) it would also provide much more space for Power Armor frames on all sides of the building, with available sorting by floor or even side. What resulted is this huge hollow area completely lined with these types of walls and no roof tiles between floors.

This building provides plenty of room for a giant Power Armor frame collection, and it even allows for easy sorting based in either floor, or even side. I realized this when I noticed that I could actually use the front wall of the structure for my Brotherhood of Steel collection, and leave the sides and back of the structure for other Power Armor frames. With so much space, I'm not going to need another building for ages.

On top of this, the walls provide a corridor on each floor large enough for the player to walk through and reach any frame they may need, and rather than take the long walk downstairs, (I prefer to not use Fusion Cores just to move Power Armor frames a few feet, which is why I emphasize this open gravity-as-an-elevator design idea) I can just hop out and be on the ground floor with my Fusion Core storage container, as well as the Power Armor crafting station. The entire shaft is enclosed as well, and feels very roomy when you're inside, and I love the feeling of openness, where the Brotherhood of Steel building actually felt cramped.

Total frame capacity: 160. 32 on the front for my Brotherhoof of Steel collection exclusively, 32 on the back for other Power Armor frames behind the staircase, and 96 on either side for other frames. Corner wall sections cannot store a frame, otherwise that would block the player trying to move through those corridors to reach a frame.

Location: Starlight Drive-In.

I'll post more pictures of the 160 frame skyscraper once I get all my Power Armor sets actually put back into it, of which there are a lot.

On a completely unrelated topic, are there elevators in this game?
Szito86 Feb 21, 2017 @ 1:58pm
Will share mine as soon I as I finish the rebuild of my settlement and yes there are elevators if you have the Contraptions DLC.

What settlement did you use for it? I currently live at, and plan to build a city at, Starlight Drive-In. At the moment I am the only population. I plan to build more cities at other locations.

Mine is really simple but it functions well. I built it in front of the screen at the Starlight drive-in, which I've used as my home base. I mostly just wanted all of the armor to be easily accessible but it also makes for decent background scenery when I'm doing other stuff around the settlement.

I'm going to get pictures of my garages, of which there are three. I've always had to build another to increase space, because I'm one of those really creative people.

Nuts...now I need to build an armor museum lol

This post is to inform you that I have edited the original post and showcased all four Power Armor garage structures I have created. While none of them are very pretty, I am very proud of myself for the third one because of the insane capacity it has.

Im useing one of two places. Since restarted just to make this. Im either going with spectacal island with a mod that flattens the ground. or with a modded in settlement NE of sanctuary.

Bump because I don't want this topic to die that easily.
dragonsphotoworks Feb 22, 2017 @ 5:54pm
im useing this mod now to build in. gives a pretty large flat area to build. Just wish didnt come with walls already. "you can move the workbench and other thing with this guide easy.. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/13876/?"

But otherwise im likeing this mod for building. As doesnt effect rest of map so can get any other mods i want. And can test my base against raiders and such when wish.

I just have my frames on one level of my personal base on Spectacle Island. I've got about 38 frames in there, plus another one (Paladin Brandis' frame) on a power armour station up in the bedroom area.

It's currently sharing space with my robot workbench, which I decided to move up from the lower manufacturing/generator level.

Clearly you've used the Vault-Tec Workshop DLC.
