Has F4 Always Given Free Power Armor Frames?
Heh, almost 1400 hours playing and never knew this. Playing survival, so carry weight is nothing, so I'm clearing out Lexington and making several back and forth trips to my base at Red Rocket with loot. So to conserve Fusion Cores, I leave my PA in Lexington.

After looting a Raider with some Raider Power Armor pieces, I return to my Red Rocket base and decide I want to repair the PA pieces, so I click on the Power Armor workshop even though I don't have any Power Armor there because I figured it would allow me to repair the pieces I was carrying in my inventory.

Well, it did. And when I was done, presto, out of thin air, a brand new Power Armor frame appears.

Has it always been like this? Why on earth would anyone, EVER, buy those frames they sell? Is this a bug maybe?

1400 hours and still learning new stuff....

Oh, and I'm level 15 on survival and haven't died yet..... trying my hand at survival playing perma-death....

Out of all my hours I have never seen that b4 guess you got lucky

I just tried this (Survival, carrying a Power Armour piece in my inventory, LMB on power armour frame) and the game just attacked the power armour frame. If I had a weapon it would shoot the frame, or punch it if I was unarmed. The 'E) CRAFT' button (PC interface) in my game is not highlighted as I approach the power armour frame.

I was carrying the T45 helmet from Lexington so I did not exactly replicate your setup of carrying Raider power armour.

Do you have any mods that may have affected this?

No mods at all. 100% stock.

And maybe I wasn't clear, but there was no power armor frame there. The Power Armor Workshp thing (the big yellow goalpost looking thing) was empty. I had left my Power Armor in Lexingont.

But I had 3 Raider Power Armor pieces in my inventory and hoped I could repair them even though the thing was empy (no power armor sitting there).

It did, and when I was done, there was a brand new, albeit empty, power armor frame standing there. I could then add those three Raider Power armor pieces to that frame and now have two sets of power armor when previously I had only one set.

I had never seen this before, but then again am not sure I ever tried to repair pieces of power armor in my inventory on an empty power armor workbench before.

I'll close this post out, go back in game, get into this "new" power armor frame, walk it to Sanctuary Hills and store it in that power armor workshop. Then, I'll come back to Red Rocket, pick up the pieces of Power Armor and try again on an empty power armor workshop and see if it creates yet another free frame.

Bakc in a few with the result.

Well, no go this time. I moved the "free" power armor frame I had recieved to Sanctuary Hills, returned to Red Rocket, picked up a piece of Raider Power Armor, and this time when I tried to start the workshop, nothing happened and a message came up saying "Find a power armor suit to use in this modding station."

So there are two possibilities. One, the fact that the piece of Raider Armor i had now was fully repaird and therefore is no unrepairable made a difference OR I was carrying, unbeknownst to me, a power armor frame around in my inventory and never knew it. The only way this is possible given how often i check my inventory would be if I had looted it in that last trip to Lexington and didn't realize it. Which is possible, because when I clearn things like the steamer trunk next to the Riader that was wearing this power armor, I don't "look" at what II loot, I justquickly hit the key to take it all.

Or a third possibility is that it was a one time fluke, but I don't put much faiith in that one.

I've never been able to repair any power armor at any station that didn't have supplies.
That's a new one on me.
