I want to keep Drinkin' Buddy...
Reacently got the quest Trouble Brewin' from Rufus in the Hotel Rexford and found Drinkin' Buddy. It said I could send him to any settlement and keep him for myself, I did just that but the quest won't go away?
Does anyone know a way around this so I can keep Buddy and tell Rufus to piss off?

You don't have to complete every quest in your log unless you have major OCD

No. The quest stays active until you send Buddy back to Rufus. Just ignore the quest if you already sent Buddy to a settlement.

So there is literally no way to keep buddy and complete the quest?

Look, you don't need anyone or anything to confirm your success. Either you keep it or you don't. There is no benefit from getting the quest marked off. It would in fact mean you could never change your mind and return it at a later time.

Only once you've returned it is the transaction final and you can no longer have it to yourself or change your mind about it.

Just keep him. The quest will still be under Miscellaneous, but who cares? Just ignore it and keep him.

No you cant complete it if you keep it for yourself, it leaves the option thier for you to change your mind if you want to eventually send it to the hotel

must be 80 % of quests that go this route ..

chose second option and they hang ..

I deselect more than half my quests

i think the ONLY way to do it and "complete" the quest is to use console commands. which is totally worth it for them ice cold beverages

It's broken, mate. You either leave it on the quest log or you input this into the console

The console command worked perfectly! Thanks so much Dr. Dro! Got my caps and the quest was completed and Drinking Buddy is still on his way back to Starlight Drive-In instead of the Hotel Rexford or back to the Shamrock Tap house!...
...Christ those protectron legs go crazy slow, too bad I can speed him up...oh well, I can swich that out when we get back to the settlement thanks to the Modify Buddy mod I found on the Nexus!

By the way, returning the robot isn't as simple as choosing the dialogue option. You'll have to make sure it gets there as there are some Mirelurks, Raiders and Super Mutants in between the Tap and the Hotel.

Sorry if this is a necro, but thanks SO much, Dr. Dro. Your solution is the only one I found that actually works for me! YMMV of course.

Actually, having the quest in your list still, makes it easy to find him again at Sanctuary (or any big settlement you send him to) if you want to fill him up with beers etc.

Just select the quest again and it'll lead you to him.

Otherwise you can spend a while looking for him sometimes :)

Too true, he won't come running for the bell as he's not a settler, you make a good argument for keeping the quest.

Ah, I just am trying Sim Settlements Rise of the Commonwealth and it turns Sanctuary into a bit of a maze. It can be hard to track down that ice cold beer or a joke when you need it!

All of the people just saying "Just leave it in quest log" are completely missing the point. AAA games should not have this level of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Thank you Dr. Dro.
