That aside, the vanilla bodies are bad combo of spikey and lumpy, there's no going back once you've smoothed them out with a body mod. Whether it looks realistic or not is dependent on your settings - as mentioned, it's just a tool.
For a mass to be classified as critical does it require kilograms of mass, not just a few dust particles. True, lighting can fuse and melt stuff, but unless you have balls of 5+ kg of Plutonium or Uranium raining down on you, to be fused by lighting and to reach critical mass will you be dead by the shear impact of balls of heavy metal balls raining down on you! Again, radiation will be the least of your concerns. Besides, each of these balls hitting the ground would be like a dirty bomb going off and it still won't be the lighting strike that you have to worry about.
Not to mention that dust storms aren't exactly know for their high degree of purity. They'll contain anything light enough to fly. Everything that isn't contributing to the critical mass will absorb radiation and only makes your theory of "fused critical dust" even more impossible.
Anyhow, I'll stop with the derailment. To the mods...
There are mods that claim to add realism to the game, but these often turn out to be misinterpretation of what is and isn't real. So does one mod I came across recently make guns sound "more realistic". But all the modder did was to add a bit of echo, hall and reverb to the sound so that each gun sounded as if it had been fired in a valley or a forest. This may sound "more realistic" when fighting outside in the Wasteland, but it equally ruins the fights indoors in return. So more realistic here is to be rather less realistic and have a neutral sound (better would be to add echo and reverb through the audio system depending on the terrain one is in rather than modding the sound files to match a particular environment).
Other mods like "Darker Nights" are more realistic, but also make it impossible to see anything when your wandering through the Wasteland during a new moon, cloudy night. The mod can make the game unplayable unless you are sitting in a darkened room yourself while playing.
Have you tried using "Body Slide & Outfit Studio" byOusnius in combination with CBBE? It takes a while to get used to, but you can edit all outfits and bodies (female) in the game. You can use it to create they type of body you want.
CBBE allows you to make any body style. You're inability to create something 'good' with it speaks to your skills, not the tool.
But the dismemberment one tends to be unrealistic, since you can decapitate a legendary and it is still alive
