Any way to organise armor/cloths by slot they go into?
How do i organise it other then useing a different box per slot? Its a pain to have to go through 500 items placeing each in right box a pain.

Valdacil's Item Sorting gives you this option.

Haven't tried it yet, so not sure, but perhaps the item sorter from the manufacturing DLC can do the trick. Have it pull the items from a box or the workbench, run it through several item sorters and then store each output separately.

I simply sort armor by alphabet, value, weight or damage depending on what I'm looking for. So do chest pieces show up at the top when sorted by damage - and if it's a weak chest piece then it's found somewhere lower and won't really be worth looking for. I do take all mods out of armor before storing it, which results in shorter lists as armor pieces make larger stacks and mods are found in a separate tab of the inventory. So then I sort by alphabet and look for leather/metal/combat, or for heavy/sturdy pieces. Only once I got the base pieces do I then decide on the mods. Taking off mods not only reduces the amount of names in the Apparel tab, but it also helps with unbalanced numbers of items, because one can end up with more left than right pieces and then has to take off mods and move them around. And mods for standard armor can also fit onto heavy and sturdy armor, too. That does it for me.

whats the point to sort that many? all ya need is the best armor pieces, an outfit that works under armor, Hazmat suit, and Charisma boosting outfits, thats it

I have a bunch of mods adding armor. And i switch up what my settlers wearing. Plus i have bunch of armor displays and gun displays im setting up.

As for amount i end up icking up tons when i go out. And with out being able to sort them individually i dont know which is worth what.

imma try this. I only thought of that for crafting new armor not sorting old armor. cool idea.

Did you not connect a storage unit to the output belts of the sorter?!

There is a unit that can pull items out of containers (including the workbench) when placed near a container. And there is a unit which serves as a storage where items coming in from the belt then are being stored.

I haven't seen a unit which will store items back into an external container (like a box or back into the workbench). Don't think such exists.

You want an array of manufacture storage units, possibly even label them, and use them as your storage boxes if you want to go down the manufacturing road.

I have a hopper, convayer belts, and sorts and collectors. Its set up as should. though seems when they go up hill its drops them more often. the vacum one didnt pull anything from a chest. guess needs a manufactoring unit connected to pull anything. but hopper is all wired and each sorted is powered.

Its working better since i rebuilt it all. But it organises by type not slot. which is a step in right direction. just come back and dump every thing into hopper. then pull stuff out as needed to organise in lockers
The armor workshop allows you to rename items, all workshops do I suppose.
Just rewrite, with AR for Arm Right for instance, the names of the pieces you care about.
Even better you can begin the name with (space) or ° or * or whatever you fancy and you'd always see those marked names at the top of your list.

Now, Navarre, I should thank you for that if it does half of what it says it does, you and its modder of course:

didnt want to have to rename every thing hehe I can place one of what ever in the sorter i dont mind that. I have most of it working as i want now anyway. Except for some pistol get sorted in with the rifles. Guess thats due to maybe they are modded guns off of rifles.

Now i just need figure out how to set up some crafting machines to take from a chest/collector thats filled from my sorting line. i have resources at end of chain.
I didn't say everything.
I only renamed the few ones I use and upgrade.

Ya but im pack rat I DO collect every thing :-) As i change outfit looks now and then. As well as set up shops useing displays and the items. And some are named pistols but some how rifle sorter grabs them. So im thiniking its due to what they used as base for their gun.

Im good on sorting atm. Just need find out how to also get it to feed crafting machines.

It does everything it says. Pair it with DEF_Ui to replace the tags by icons, and you'll have a nicely sorted inventory with subcategories for chems, food, drinks, holotapes, notes, explosives, etc, and nice icons to identify them at a glance. Very convenient.

I have it but dont see it organising by slot. Just by type. Scrap, resource, food, raw... and such. But i like it anyway.

When you install it with NMM, it gives you the choice between organising armor by slot or type. To reinstall it with different options right click on the mod in NMM and select 'reinstall'.
