Fallout 4 won't launch after pressing play (PLEASE HELP)

This has been happeneing to me for the past three days.I go on my steam and play Fallout 4 and the usual window showing the power armor helmet pops up.Naturally I press play but instead of the game launching the same exact window repeats to pop up.I've tried viewing the file integrity and and uninstalling then reinstalling the game but to no obvious avail.If someone could help me I'd really appreciate it,I mean the Commonwelath needs me.

If you could post your PC specs it might help to track things down. Couple of things I've done that helped with loading and stability:

1- Create a desktop short cut to start the game, when starting, right click to "run as administrator", I found this very useful in Windows 10 especially.

2-Create an exception in your AV program for both FO4 and Steam, so at least you can eliminate your AV as a culprit. Some AV programs can prevent FO4 from starting.

Another question would be, are you running the base game, or are you running a game that's modded?

I press play and it takes me to the helmet then i press play again and it says windows not responding

So I realize im late to the party on this, but after scouring the internet looking for my own fix, I finally got fallout to launch. What I think ended up fixing it, at least in part, was turning off "windows game mode" and all the corresponding in-game features. I can't be 100% right now as I am also running the exe it in compatibility mode for windows 8 but I think that did it. It launched after turning all that off.

If this alone doesn't fix it for you, I've also updated DirectX and I have run as administrator also checked. Hopefully, one of those things or a combination does the trick for you.

go into the graphic setting of the game and check the settings...if any are set to ultra, lower them and turn off godray thing hopefully that will help. if that didnt help try reinstalling files in _commonredist folder(make sure you ♥♥♥♥♥♥ your rig if you do)
