What Junk do I need to keep for crafting and quests?

I know that there are a couple of items I need to keep for the Brotherhood, but aside from that can someone list the junk items for crafting and quests?

You can break down pretty much everything for material/parts. And pretty much everything is used for most normal objects.

Quest items are placed into your misc tab while junk, the items used in crafting are placed into your junk tab

Junk items for crafting are just about Everything that isn't a unique legendy armor or weapon item, bobbleheads, or quest items given to you for use in said quest.

Of course, you can't junk pipboy game tapes and other such tapes, but you can dispose of them.

The world is a dump, even the clothes you find can be scrapped and turned into floor mats and chairs. A definitive list would be long.

Abraxo Cleaner to make Mentats
Antifreeze Bottle to make Berry mentats. (Pretty uncommon item so if you want to make this, keep it out of the workshop. Breaks down into acid and plastic so most likely gets scrapped as soon as you build something that needs either of those.)

Halluciegen gas Container, only 8? can be found at Hallucigen Inc, and dont respawn I think. Not sure on that. Stored in junk, breaks down into steel and 1 is needed for a misc quest in goodneighbour. Can also be used to build a frenzy gas grenade, so yeah, great thinking from who-ever thought that up.

Buffout, not that rare but only chem that cant be made, and imo more usefull to be turned into psychobuff and bufftats.

bloatfly gland(1) for a misc quest in diamond city

syringer ammo needs some specific junk items, though havent used it myself so you'll ahve to look those up yourself.

There a ton of stuff to craft and modify. It isn't a simple task of making a short list of items you should look out for, only you know what you'll need. For example, Adhesive is a VERY important material, but it would be pretty pointless to horde a ton of it if you aren't going to be crafting weapons and only stick to the chem and cooking station.

gtocha -- yeah be careful with those gas containers. you can craft grenades from them as well like he said -- but you only can make as many as you have cannisters. You dont need a recipie, it becomes an available option at the chem station if you have the gas cannister in your inventory

but if you scrap it for parts its gone and you aint getting it back

Aluminum cans, adhesive, oil, screws are basic every day.
settlements- cloth, concrete, steel, wood, food to plant.

Biometric scanner x 1 and military grade circuit board x 1 for the molecular relay.
High-power magnet x 1 for liberty prime quest.
